Yenma snorted in derision. "You think that's bad?" she asked. "That's nothing. In my future, mom's 'activities' eventually caught the attention of the local yakuza. Dad tried to save her, but they both ended up being killed. I've spent the last five years in an orphanage."

"Why didn't you go to live with father?" Kasumi asked.

Yenma laughed bitterly. "Mom sold the dojo and put grandpa in a retirement home. The cheapest she could find. After Genma died, she had grandma put in the same one."
