Faerie King Ranma: Applying for Directions [Episode 51296]

by Thrythlind

Kodachi had been walking for several minutes without even a single sign of a challenge worthy of her intellect. It was beginning to grate on her nerves something awful.

To think that these creatures would deign to lure her within for a mere maze?! It was outrageous. And then she saw the milling group of short, well-endowed, insect-winged girls with pointy ears off to the side.

"You there!" Kodachi snapped.

A butterfly-winged girl blinked and looked about for a moment.

"Me?" she asked.

"Yes, you," Kodachi said, jabbing her finger. "I demand you show me at once to the quickest path to the castle at the center of this tedious maze. It has failed to interest me."

"Well, the quickest way to the castle is at the end of that line," a girl with dragonfly wings said, pointing at the short line of other girls with wings. "But I don't think you want..."

"Thank you," Kodachi said, cutting her off. "It is good to see that some know their betters when they see them."

As Kodachi hurried off one of the fey-elves turned to the rest of the group.

"Isn't she one of the contestants?" the girl asked.

"Yeah, I believe so," another said.

"Then why is she going to the line to apply as one of the concubines?" the first asked again. The others shrugged.

****

Kodachi fidgetted impatiently as the line slowly moved forward. Couldn't these peasants see that she was someone of importance to be let through? She was, if the poster was accurate, destined to be their queen. Wasn't she?

Finally, she reached the end of the line and came to face a rather bored seeming woman in a long robe.

"Next?" she muttered in a weary monotone. Kodachi stepped forward.

Mertha had been assigned to one of the fae resources appointments for this situation. And the reason, because she had procastinated in applying to be one of the obstacles. As a result she was leading a rather incredibly unsatisfactory day talking to fey-elf after fey-elf.

It was getting tedious. All the butterfly Fey were all bubbly and so sugary sweet it gave her cavities. The dragon-fly Fey were all concerned about sports and hunting. The wasps were all rather snappish and easily insulted. The moths were all depressing and gothy. And the bees only wanted to talk about how many children the new king would give them. And ALL of them made her look plain (and she was quite attractive by human standards).

And to think, she had to find twelve of these sluts for the king.

"Finally," Kodachi sniffed. "Madam, I demand you escort me to the castle this very instant."

"Another wasp," Mertha groaned as she looked up. "Look you I've been here..." the bored witch stopped and blinked as she looked at the arrogant girl in front of her.

Could it be?

"Well?" Kodachi demanded, crossing her arms in bitter anger.

Yes, yes it was!!

A contestant!!

Here, coming to HER!!

And here she'd thought that she'd be totally left out of the fun of this party.

"Hmm, no good at all," the woman said standing up.

"Pardon me?" Kodachi demanded.

"You simply can't be presented to the castle in this state," Mertha explained circling Kodachi and tsking in a disapproving manner.

"Perhaps I should have come in by kimono," Kodachi reasoned at that point. The woman was correct that her gymnastics leotard was hardly appropriate material for attending her soon-to-be king and husband.

"Oh, don't worry deary," the witch said. "We'll fix you right up. I'll send someone for clothes straight away. In the meantime, perhaps you would like something to drink." The deviously smiling woman waved her wand and a small table of food complete with an elegant chair appeared.

"Why, certainly," Kodachi said, smiling as she enjoyed the fact that she was now being treated as she deserved.

Mertha and all the Fey elves tensed as she sat down and investigated the meal laid before her...it didn't resemble any particular food she had seen before. She reached for the glass and tried a sip, experimentally and hmmed in approval before taking a fork and then sampling a bit of the food.

"This is exquisite," Kodachi said. "What do you call this?"

Mertha smirked as Kodachi ate and drank more. Wings began to sprout from her back, a double set of insect wings like those of all the other girls. And her slim, slender figure began to shift into the classic hourglass form. She lost about five inches in height, but she had already almost been the size of the fey elves anyway, so she didn't lose much.

"Why, it's...
