**********
Ranma looked on from his position on the ground, as Saffron flew just high enough to stay out of his reach no matter what type of midair combat style he used. Saffron was gloating about his emminent victory over Ranma, and how when he won the battle that he would destroy the insufferable landlings off the face of the earth.
Ranma knew that he had to win, no matter what the cost, even if it cost him his life, but he had no clue how to do it when Saffron flew just out of range of his hand-to-hand, was able to dodge anything he launched from the ground, and refused to do anything which would allow him to use things like the Hyru-Shoten-Ha. He was especially having a hard time coming up with anything as he was having to almost constantly dodge huge fireballs, some of which destroyed two or three houses simultaneously.
So far, the only thing that had saved him was his speed and his cold aura. After thinking on it for quite some time (A.N. remember a martial battle that lasts more than a minute is a long battle, so thinking over something for a subjectively long time in battle, can objectively be a minute or less depending on the intensity of fighting), Ranma decided that the only way for him to win the battle was if he could fly.
Ranma knew that it would probably be impossible for him to learn to fly, but he also knew something else: Ranma Saotome never loses when it matters. So Ranma searched inside himself for the power to fly, while constantly having to dodge fireballs that were destroying homes and lives. Ranma searched hard for any source of energy inside of him that might help, and found a little trickle of energy that seemed to go directly to healing his body. He was about to skip over that trickle as it wasn't nearly enough to be of any help, but then he noticed that something had blocked where ever that trickle came from, and now only a trickle could get through. In a desperate hope that if he destroyed that block that he would have enough power to fly, he did just that, and then felt a similar sensation to the change of Jusenkyo, but it was a different form that he found himself in. His body ripped through most of his clothes as his body expanded. He grew to a height of about seven feet, looking mostly like a werecheetahs hybrid form, but with several differances. He had giant bat wings extending from his back, with cheetah patterned fur all over them. His fur all over his body was slightly darker than most werecheetahs, but unmistakably cheetah patterned. His ears were also slightly larger than the average werecheetah's, being a mix between bat and cat, and he also had fangs that would make the lost boy jealous.
Suddenly finding himself able to fly, Ranma didn't question his sudden change, but instead he flew up to meet Saffron in the air, at first a little clumsy due to not being used to the wings, but quickly adjusting to his new form. He knew that he was now a monster (at least that is how he sees his new body), but he also knew that he had to save as many of the people of Nerima as he could. The battle took another halfhour to be resolved (mostly due to Ranma learning his new form), and in the end Ranma won.
Ranma was again forced to kill Saffron, but this time he made it permanent, as just before Saffron was reborn he used a variation of Hinako's Fifty-yen Satsu to drain the energy from Saffron that would be needed for his rebirth.
As Ranma felt the energy rushing into him, he screamed in pain, then forced the energy out of his body toward the sky, hoping that this way, no one else would be hurt. After all of the energy of Saffron's rebirth had been drained and then released, Ranma fell unconscious out of the sky, and into the canal below to later wake up...
