*It wasn't supposed to happen like this* thought Genma as he drank his fifth cup of sake. He had sold his son for many things over the years but somehow always got him back in the end. Only this time, he didn't.
It all started this morning. Ranma had been training in the commercial district of Kyoto (i.e. stealing food for his loving father) when he got caught red-handed by some gaijin woman. However, she paid the shopkeeper for what he stole and took him to the nearby imperial park. That's when Genma found the two. Apparently, she was trying to explain to his son that stealing was wrong and other moral nonsense.
He had politely told this gaijin that what he was teaching his son was his business, that some honorless westerner couldn't understand the nobility of being a martial artist and promptly got into the crouch of the wild tiger when she pointed that nasty-looking gun at him. She agreed to let him go free and not call the police if he let her take his son with her. He even got money from her, much to Ranma's apparent disgust as it was the first time he saw and understood this kind of deal.
Of course Genma was trailing them, waiting for an opportunity to take back his son. What he didn't expect was the two of them going to the station and boarding a train. He vainly tried to go in but was easily ejected by the ticket controller (how a faceless short and stocky guy could dismiss an Anything Goes master like that was still a mystery). That's when things went into the downright bizarre because he was sure that the train took off and flew into the sky. Trying to learn the train's destination from the station workers had proved useless, it was as if it didn't exist !

Little Ranma watched in wonder at the spectacle through the train's window, he was the first martial artist in space ! When the galaxy express left the solar system, he turned back to look at the pretty lady who asked him to be her bodyguard on her journey. She was not japanese but Ranma didn't care, she was beautiful nevertheless with her tall and lithe body as well as her long blonde hair.
"So, where are we going, Lady ?" asked Ranma.
"A distant planet, far in the galaxy, called Rahmetal. The journey will be long and dangerous"
"Don't worry, I'll protect you !"
"I am sure that you will, Ranma-kun"
"By the way, what is your name ? I can't call you Lady for the whole trip !"
"You can call me Maetel, Ranma-kun. Now, you must get some sleep. Tomorrow will be the first stop of our voyage"
"Really ? Where is it ?"
"It's a planet called..."
