Nodoka, you see, was a were-rat. Not just any were-rat, but the daughter of the High Elder himself. However if one thing should be mentioned it was that she and her father NEVER saw eye to eye.
Hence her secret. When Gothwrian began to plot the extinction of both the were-wolves and were-cheetahs she and the few brave clan-members she could gather tried to stop the slaughter before it was too late.
However upon arrival, it was too late. Seeing that she and the few were-rats that were brave enough to help saved what few they could. In total they smuggled out five were cheetahs and six were-wolves. Their only Aura Mage cast a spell on each of them so their cheetah-like and wolf-like traits were hidden in their human forms.
She herself took two were-cheetahs, two who loved each other dearly, to Japan, where they could, hopefully, live in peace and continue their species.
A few years later they had a baby boy. They seemed happy. Then Gothwrian’s men had found them. In desperation they gave the child to Nodoka, and told her if they could not return, then protect and raise and name their child as if it were her own. They then ran, hoping to divert their attention from their lone child.
Five days later their bodies were found. Nodoka named the child Ranma, and to help her hide in the world married Genma, a martial artist.
Still fearing she herself could be found, or the were-cheetah child, who’s cheetah-like features were hidden in human form, and his hybrid and full-cheetah forms locked by a mage, accepted Genma’s proposal (After making a contract to try and keep Genma in check) to train Ranma on the road. Doing so would keep him hard to track by Gothwrian’s men, and since he was to be taught the art of combat, he would someday be able to hold his own.
And now Nodoka was thinking of what to do. A decade has come and gone. Ranma’s victory over Saffron and the failed wedding has passed a month ago. She decided she had to do something.
