This begged the question of just where he was. He shrugged, put a hand on his reverse-bladed sword, just to make sure that it was there and picked a direction and walked. He knew he could take care of himself, and this wouldn't have been the first time he had to take care of himself.
He wandered for hours, just enjoying the scenery. But he still wondered where he was. "It would be nice if there were people around at least." He continued to walk and walk and walk and, well, you get the idea.
Suddenly the area around him exploded. He coughed and looked around. He scowled a bit when he saw bandits. 'People who prey on the weak, must've had some minor explosives under the road.' True there was no real road, but that didn't matter to Kenshin.
The gang leader smirked, "Well, well, what do we have here fellas? A girly man in fancy clothes." His fellow bandits just laughed.
Kenshin just ignored the insults, he had heard worse ones before and while he was out-numbered by about thirty to one, he far outclassed these losers. "I'm going to ask nicely, please let me pass."
The bandits just laughed, "I don't care who you think you are, you've got to pay a toll."
"And if I don't?"
The leader just grinned, "Then my boys will have to 'rough' you up a bit."
Kenshin shook his head, "I do not wish to fight. But I can see that you aren't going to leave me with any choice are you?"
"Nope."
"I truely am sorry then." He pulled out his reverse-bladed sword and took a stance.
The leader just laughed, "A man who thinks he can beat us by himself, and with a reverse-blade at that." Everyone just chuckled.
Kenshin internally smirked, these people, and he used the term loosely, didn't know about him and what he could do. 'Better that way. I don't like people knowing about my past.' Outloud he spoke, "Let's get started then." Normally he avoided fights at all costs, but these were preditors who preyed on the weak, and he had taken an oath to protect the innocent and never kill again.
