Genma's Wish: Who? [Episode 5352]

by Thrythlind

She was about to make a brief foray from her cavern to silence the noise outside, when something happened.

The something was a trickle of movement. Her keen eyes quickly focused on that motion and watched, hopefully. Then her eyes began to glow with awe and joy as the body she had been watching for ages uncounted stiffly rose from its chair.

"My Lord," she said cautiously. He could have still been possessed after all.

"Pirotess," Ashram whispered, a small smile gracing his face. "I'm sorry to keep you waiting."

"I..." Pirotess dropped to her knees before Ashram. "I'm sorry milord, I had given up hope."

"You should have left me long ago, Pirotess," Ashram said, gently guiding her to look him in the face. "I am dead, you are alive."

"And that's different now," Pirotess declared. "You're back."

"No I'm not," Ashram said. "I've been sent with a message, two messages. One is from me, return to life and leave the dead behind."

"But, milord..." Pirotess protested sadly. "I've waited all this time..."

"Too long for a dead man, Pirotess," Ashram said. "Too long. I did not lead my people away for them to waste themselves in grieving for my end. Any of them, but especially not you."

"I'll never forget you milord," Pirotess said, looking down and crying.

"I am glad to be remembered," Ashram said.

"What is the second message, milord," Pirotess asked softly, leaning against him and noticing that the spell-preserved body was still cold.

"The time of heros is returning again," Ashram said. "And you are given the care of one its number. There is a child outside who will need guidance. In time he may be great, perhaps one day, he'll kill an insane god himself." He smiled at the reference.

"I will do my duty to you, my lord," Pirotess said. "I shall train and raise this child as you command."

"My only command is that you not forget what we fought for," Ashram said. "Nor that you let yourself suffer for grief of me any longer."

"As you desire my lord," Pirotess sighed.

"Farewell then, my Pirotess...." Ashram's voice faded away and with it so to did the body, leaving Pirotess alone. She pulled in her breath and rallied herself before heading outside to find this child her lord was talking about.
