Sailor Marionette R1/2: Uranus' new problem [Episode 54501]

by Kestral

"Boring," said Usagi2.

"You could always go into 'rest mode' like Aphrodite and Zeus," pointed out Setsuna2.

"Our organic-emulating systems need human style nutrition," complained Usagi2. "We're just locked up in a shrine we could bust out of in less than a second without powering up or using a materia."

"It's too bad we don't have a 'nookie' materia," complained Michiru2. "Master's shyness and naivete is entirely too frustrating."

"Hmmm," said Ami2, changing the subject to ground that might prove more productive. "I don't think using the Roman names for our Sailor identities is a good idea. The other Senshi are human and might find it confusing with us impersonating them."

"So what do we do?" Haruka2 asked. "There needs to be a differentiation between them and us, otherwise we're stuck with asking do they mean 'Minako-organic or Minako-marionette' when referencing one of us."

"Other than context, there may be another method." Ami projected a display. "How about these names?"

"Your name doesn't change," pointed out Haruka2. "Amy is Ami. What the heck kind of name is 'Trista' though?"

"We could use the Roman pantheon, just shift the names to our non-Sailor identities," suggested Pluto2. "Though personally I'm not fond of the idea of being known as 'Hades'."

"The numeric designate lacks elegance," put in Michiru2. "The Roman names would have my name as Poseidon, which is even more distinctly male-sounding than Neptune. Do I really look masculine?"

Haruka2 looked over the Michiru who was a twin of the original. "Yes."

WHACK-UM!

"...uncute tomboy..." said Haruka2 after she'd finished sliding along the ground and run a systems diagnostic.

"...uncultured barbarian..." replied Michiru2. "Proposal - adopt the personal names, but go with the closest Roman or Japanese figure of the appropriate gender. For example, Usagi2 could have been Luna or Diana - but as both are already in use - Inaba would work for a Japanese name."

"Inaba the White Rabbit was male wasn't he?" Usagi2 asked. "The name would only sound feminine to those of Latin-based languages who have '-a' ending names as feminine."

Cologne surveyed the scene and put the pieces of the puzzle together.

  1. The Tendo Dojo and part of the surrounding neighborhood resembled a Military Practice Range - the sort where bombing practice runs took place.
  2. There was a glacier where the Tendo home had stood, a spire of ice some 35' tall, 45' wide, and 50' long. Roughly.
  3. Looked like the two fathers and their shogi board were inside the glacier. A panda had apparently been caught in mid-cheat.
  4. One severely beaten Happosai. Very interesting collection of injuries in fact. Frostbitten legs, but other parts of him looked burned, pierced, blasted, waterlogged, and she wasn't sure what some of those other injuries were.
Happosai weakly moved his head up and stared off at something only he could see. "Beautifullllll." Thud!

Cologne raised an eyebrow at that, and added that as another piece of the puzzle.

  1. Happosai passing out after saying the word 'beautiful' in English.
  2. Lingering traces of powerful magic in the vicinity. Holy magic from what she could perceive.
  3. The Cat Cafe destroyed.
  4. The Ucchan's burned to the ground.
  5. People who were regulars talking about Teenage Zombies in fast food uniforms.
  6. A new restaurant in the area specializing in French Food.
  7. Shampoo, Mousse, the Tendo daughters, Ranma, Ukyo, Konatsu, etc - missing.
Put them altogether and the meaning was obvious!

Leave for a few days and things go completely to hell. Cologne decided she needed a drink. She was getting too old for this. People ought to respect someone of her advanced years and not go rearranging things when her back was turned.

She was unlikely to get an answer from either of the fathers, at least until the ice melted, and then she'd have to worry about the amount of truth in their claims.

Cologne nodded. Some hot mulled wine sounded good. She needed to sit back and think about this at the very least.

"It's not like you to be that upset about a guy," pointed out Sailor Neptune.

"I'm not used to guys getting up, yelling 'I fight on' and talking about every time I hit him is an affirmation of love," said Sailor Uranus, shuddering slightly. "I've met a lot of guys and not thought much of them. THIS guy is something worse."

"Worse?" Neptune asked, knowing full well that Haruka's opinion of the male gender was prone to get pretty nasty - especially after various races and running into the high number of sexists in Japanese High School Sports.

"He LIKES getting hit," said Uranus with a shudder. "I punch him into next week, except he's back five minutes later. I decide he's a youma and throw a 'World Shaking' at him. Seven minutes. A 'Space Sword Blaster' got me a whole fifteen minute break."

Neptune was going to be concerned about using major attacks against civilians when the intervals penetrated. "He survived?!"

"Not only that," said Uranus with a distasteful expression. "He seemed more clingy and obsessive the stronger I hit him. He was saying that even his two loves - some pigtailed girl and some kind of tigress - couldn't compare."

Ranma had been listening, started staring, and now went straight to (clap) (clap) (clap) (rub-rub-rub) "better you than me, much better you than me."

"You have no idea how annoying that is," commented Uranus.

"You have no idea," replied Ranma. "Say, can you light a couple of candles and do one of those thank-kami things?"

Mars nodded before catching Uranus' glare.

"I finally hit him with a World Shaking, threw him in a trash can, and threw the trashcan in the canal," said Uranus. "There's no way that's human. He HAS to be a youma."

"Where is mine fair princess of the slender neck, whose masculine haircut only emphasizes the femininity of her nape?"

Sailor Uranus could face bullies, demons, daimons, creatures from beyond, and other typical villains without a qualm. There was something about Tatewaki Kuno that qualified as "serious creepy factor" as far as she was concerned.
