Ever since he had crash landed from one of his improptu air passages right into an underground cavern, which had housed the thing, his luck had gone to hell.
Every fight he had gotten into since finding the bracer and putting it on had led to his defeat. It was pathetic how a single piece of armwear could make someone with the power to defeat a god become easily beatable even by untrained novices.
Ranma glumly trudged into the school and noticed that the others were caught up in that stupid card fighting game again.
"Hey Ranma what kept you?" Nabiki said with a warm smile. It might have fooled others but Ranma knew what lay behind that look. "Did the old lady knock you out too?" she finished with a smirk.
Normally Ranma would have shot back with something but since getting that bracer he had long since grown accustomed to taking cheap shots like that.
Nabiki said, "Cheer up, this won't last.. these things never do with you.. but in the meantime.. since you can't do martial arts anymore how about you come over here and duel with me." she said with another warm smile.
Akane glared at her sister, "Nabiki! Stop picking on Ranma. You know he stinks even more at cards than he does fighting."
"No, it's okay, Akane." Ranma said with an inner grimace. Bad enough that he couldn't fight.. he didn't need Akane standing up for him too. "Sure, Nabiki, but I don't have any cards of my own to duel with."
Nabiki smirked, "That's no problem I'll loan you some of mine."
Nabiki stared in shock. There was no way she could have lost.. it was impossible!
Everyone else who had witnessed the match were in equal states of disbelief. While the inability to fight had been a recent developement for Ranma, he had never been good at games using cards in them. His 'poker' face was just too much of a give-away. And even if he had somehow found his niche there was no way he should have won his first match ever against the school's champion!
There was no denying however the sign stating Nabiki's life force had dropped into nothing.
