Twelve were basic "Maid" series marionettes. They weren't built to be combatants, they had no maiden circuits, and they were not independent. They were human shaped units whom he had gotten as "spoils of war" and just never figured out what to do with them.
The same adventure, though in a sense it was all a retroactive illusion, had netted him Siryn. Since the plot had been to capture Doctor Lorelei and force Japonesse to surrender to their demands, a marionette version of Doctor Lorelei had been built and installed with a "maiden circuit". She had imprinted on Ranma. After the battle Ranma had left with the twelve Maids, Doctor Lorelei, and three other units in addition to the Marionette Senshi.
The next world had been an attempt to find out where the "materia" had come from that had shown up at the same time as Ranma. On that world one of those other units, an old waitress model, had been destroyed when some robbers had ambushed the group.
Following that they had lost two more units. One had been an expert cook. The other had been a common labor unit. The cook had been possessed by a malicious entity of some vampiric nature. The labor unit had been shredded by that entity.
Using her marionette strength, Siryn had collected what useful pieces she could of the three scrapped units.
While the Senshi Marionettes fretted over their name changes, Siryn was at work.
The parts that had been salvaged were being joined with new parts fabricators as she could slowly put them together. Her reasoning was simple. If she or any of the others were injured - they did not possess a healing factor. If a limb were cut off or damaged, without working these angles out she would have to cannibilize a unit to keep another functional. While the twelve Maid units had little in the way of personality, their exposure to magic in that one world had caused the units to alter in ways that Siryn didn't completely understand even now.
Janis, Febri, Marche, April, May, June, Juli, Augusta, Septembre, October, November, December - all had been present when the magic of the Eidolon Tower had shattered and the Dark Eidolon had been defeated. They had been sent in with shields to cover the troops that had been led by that hero - and had performed as ordered - trying to use their mechanical resistance to magic to keep the magic from turning the human troops into pillars of white flame by overloading them with life energy.
The twelve had changed and now seemed to have a bit more individuality than before. Occasionally one would do something without being ordered to and would reply that it just seemed to need doing.
So taking the twelve Maids apart for parts was possible but not really desired.
Siryn herself had been part of an experiment, using brainscans of the original Doctor Lorelei over the period of several weeks while the scientist slept and transmitted to her marionette body-double. The result had been that many of Doctor Lorelei's mannerisms and habits had been copied. Siryn also had a full knowledge of marionette construction and repair, as well as how to construct the machines that could build the parts needed for regular maintenence.
She'd also gotten two materia during the adventures on that world, implanted into her chestplate. Carbunkle and Mimic.
Now if she could just get these solar panels finished, she'd have a recharge ready to go.
"Delinquents!"
That was all the battlecry Ranma needed to leap to a wall and then a roof and get the heck out of the way.
Sure enough, there was Miss Hinako turning her attention to the girls in short skirts and Tatewaki Kuno.
Kuno also knew enough (it somehow penetrating that skull) that Miss Hinako was here and so he gave off his chase in order to calm himself and shield his aura.)
Feeling wisps of energy being pulled off of them to be fed to some girl with a coin, who was morphing into a proper youma entity, well - it was kind of predictable.
"World Shaking!" "Deep Submerge!"
Miss Hinako went for a brief flight but in her mind the connection had been made. Those two were the worst delinquents and had to be stopped. "Happo No Yen Coin Return!"
THWAM! Neptune hadn't expected that quick a recovery and took a chi blast to the head. She went night-night.
"NEPTUNE?!" "Neptune-san?!!"
Miss Hinako prepared to deal with the delinquents.
The Senshi prepared to deal with the youma.
Tatewaki Kuno prepared to whisk the aqua haired maiden off to recover in his bedroom.
