A crash was heard out side the room and voice rang out. “Wowsers! That Coat rack is obviously placed in a dangerous position, people could get hurt by it!”
A tall man with dark hair and a long grey trench coat walked into the dining room, the remnants of the coat rack draped across his shoulders. Most of the cast sweat dropped, even as Penny let out a long sigh. “And that’s...my Uncle Gadget.”
“How do you do. I’m Inspector Gadget.” Gadget replied, even as Nabiki’s eyebrow rose, recognizing the name. Even if she couldn’t believe that his klutz was the famous law enforcement official.
“Heh... well I’m Ranma Saotome of the Saotome school of Anything Goes. Please to meetcha.” Ranma shrugged, wincing slightly at the glare form Akane. “But umm I got a lot of fiancée’s see, thanks to my idiot pop.... I really don’t need anoth....”
“Ranma I’m afraid it’s not that simple.” Nodoka interrupted her son, eyeing the teenage Penny critically to see if she would be a good match for her son. Oh all right she was eyeing her and imagining what sort of grandbabies she would have with Ranma, but then that’s Nodoka. “It seems your father signed a legal contract this time, and there is a substantial penalty should we pull out of the contract. A penalty we can not afford at the moment.”
Reactions varied.
Akane Fumed at her side of the corner. How dare that pervert get another foreign bimbo after him. Akane bet he had planned this whole thing out. That jerk, obviously she’d have to teach him a lesson....later when Auntie Nodoka wasn’t around though.
Genma Panda cringed at the glare Nodoka leveled at him. How was he supposed to know that the gaijin couple would have been so serious about the whole thing? If only the boy had married Akane he wouldn’t be in this mess!
Soun was furious. How dare they try to break up the Saotome-Tendo marriage! It didn’t matter what a piece of paper said, the Tendo marriage was the only one that counted!!
Nabiki was curious. “Now wait a minute... How did this contract come to be signed? I mean why would two Americans sign a engagement contract? IT makes no sense...”
*Ring, Ring*
Nabiki blinked as she was interrupted. “Would someone please answer the phone?”
“Oh my! Its not our phone Nabiki” Kasumi called from the front door.
Nabiki blinked, if it wasn’t the house phone then....
Gadget blinked and started. “Wowsers! It’s the top secret Gadget phone!”
“How can it be top secret if he tells everybody about it?” Ranma asked Nabiki. Before Nabiki could reply she stopped in shock, as Gadget pulled a small antenna out of his thumb. He then extended his pinky and began to speak into it.
“Gadget here.... Chief? Uh-huh.... you’re where???!” Gadget blinked in surprise and then walked over to the Tendo porch, stopping at the Shogo board. He looked around it for a few minutes, when suddenly the board popped up on a hinge. Underneath the board appeared the face of a middle aged mustached man, a small pipe in his mouth. “Chief! I didn’t know you were visiting Japan.”
“Never mind that Gadget, here’s your assignment.” The Chief’s hand appeared handing him a sheet of paper. Gadget went to work reading it, even as Soun and Genma went to the Shogo board to investigate how the Shogo pieces were moved by this new distraction.
“MAD agents planning to study marital artists of Nerima. Stop.
Dr. Claw has kidnapped top robotics expert. Stop
Planning to build army of martial artist robots. Stop.
Prevent Dr. Claw from creating his army. Stop.
This message will self destruct in 15 seconds. Stop”
“Don’t worry Chief!” Gadget exclaimed as he waded up the sheet of paper. ”Inspector Gadget is ALWAYS on duty!.”
With that Gadget turned and tossed the paper over his shoulder, where it bounced off the doorframe, and dribbled down to the base of the Shogo board stand. The Chief, Soun, and Genma looked down. The chief opened his voice and in a resigned voice he said. “Oh no...:” In the dining room, the Tendo’s Nodoka and Ranma winced as a loud explosion was heard. Glancing back they saw the charred and smoking forms of Soun and Genma. The chiefs charred head scowled. “GADDDGEEETTTTT!!!”
“OH my! Father! Mr. Genma! You and you’re friend are tracking soot onto my floor!” Kasumi chided as she appeared with a broom.
“Now Penny I have work to do, you and Brain stay here and get to know Ranma.”
Penny rolled her eyes and then leaned down to whisper into Brain’s ear. “Better follow him Brain, make sure to keep him out of trouble.”
Ranma, Nabiki, and Akane blinked as Brain responded. “Rrokay!” and bounded out the door after the departing inspector.
Penny turned and smiled weakly at her fiancee. “So....”
"Oh My... Would you care for some popcorn Penny-san?"
"I.... didn't know a body could bend that way."
"Oh yes Ranma does that all the time when he plays with his friends"
