It was dark when Ranma went back to the dojo. Flying in at an angle, he gently alighted onto the roof. Taking a moment to calm him self from the rush of the flight, the martial artist transformed back to his human shape and sat down.
-Whew! What a ride! - He thought, -Who knew flying at supersonic speeds would be so fun! -
As the adrenaline from the activity faded, Ranma let loose a breath of air. Lifting a hand, and twisting it to and fro, he wondered what the full capabilities of this new form were. That person… spirit… whatever hadn’t given very much information on what he could do.
-Of course, it’s my own fault.- he thought, -I didn’t even think to ask.-
He sighed wistfully. -I just wish I knew more about my bodies new powers.-
I could tell you.
“Thanks, but how would you-” Ranma stiffened up, and looked around. He frowned in confusion at finding himself alone on the roof. The only sound was the chirping of crickets, and the wind. Even his chi senses told him that nothing was out of the ordinary.
Suddenly, someone started to chuckle. You won’t find me that way!
The voice was familiar, but Ranma couldn’t place it. He grew angry as it started to chuckle. “Come out, where I can see you!”
I would, but that’s not possible. Oh, and speak with your thoughts.
“Why?”
Because people will think you are crazy if you talk to yourself.
“What do you mean?”
Only you can hear me, Ranma.
“How do you know my name!?”
Patience. All will be explained. Just please do what I ask.
Ranma scowled and closed his eyes. -Like this? - he thought.
Yes, that is perfect.
-Alright, then. You said you can’t come out from wherever you are and that only I can hear you, right? -
That is correct.
-Okay. Whys is that? -
It’s because I’m inside of you.
-You’re… what? -
I’m inside of you, Ranma.
-Inside me? How the heck did that happen? -
I became a part of you when you became a Cyber-Creature.
-Cyber… Wait a minute.- Ranma’s eyes shot open. "Firestein?”
Close, but no. Lord Firestein moved on after your change. I am an AI that has been programmed into the CPU of your body.
-AI? -
Artificial Intelligence. Basically, it is the ability of computers to perform functions that normally require human intelligence. In my case, I was designed to emulate the mind of Lord Firestein.
-Emulate him? -
Correct. I was designed with his personality as a template, and I have all of his knowledge and memories.
Ranma nodded. -So why are you in me? -
My purpose is to aid you, or more precisely, to aid whoever received Lord Firestein's gift first, in whatever endeavors they choose to partake.
-Huh? -
Allow me to rephrase that. I will help the person who gets the Lords gift first in anything they want to do. That person just happens to be you.
-Ah. I see.-
Is there anything else you wish to know?
-Yes.-
-What’s your name? -
Alas, I must confess that I don’t have one.
-Why not? -
It was decided that my master be the one to name me.
-You mentioned that you could tell me about my abilities? -
That is correct. Where would you like to start first?
-What can you tell me about Firestein? -
To tell you right now would take too long. We must go to his base located on the world of Earth.
-This is Earth.-
