Ranma had to admit, it did have a sort of style to it. When he had refused the engagement based on (a) he didn't consider himself a Saotome any more, nor were Genma's wishes a valid reason, (b) he already had a girlfriend back home, and (c) he didn't want to be tied down to a broken-down old dojo run by a pair of idiots. Genma and Soun had objected, and then attacked to try and force their will on Ranma.
So Ranma had demonstrated the Hard Edge technique on Soun, knocking the man out in one attack. Then he decided to be flashy on his so-called 'father.' He might not be able to access the same kind of power as Rock did... but that didn't mean he couldn't adapt some of those techniques to himself. So Genma got hit with his entire 'Wild Deadly Rave' attack. It obviously worked like a charm, seeing as Genma was blissfully unconscious and smoldering.
Akane looked at Ranma, her eyes shining. "Do you think... you could teach me?"
That drew Ranma short. "Uh... I'd better not. Those two," he said, pointing at the fallen fathers, "would take it the wrong way. Not to mention Hotaru, my girlfriend. Or those other girls that want to be my girlfriend, and won't take no for an answer."
Akane was crestfallen, while Nabiki laughed. "Popular with the ladies, eh, Ranma?"
Ranma groaned in response. "Don't remind me. The worst part is that all, er... well, most of the girls are nice people I wouldn't mind being friends with. But they just won't leave it at that..."
Ranma then turned to Akane. "But here's something I can do. It's a little secret I happen to know, but there are a group of schools nearby that have a lot of tough fighters. They even have their own unofficial tournament going on all the time, and some of those fighters there could turn some 'professional' street fighters inside out."
Akane's outlook brightened. "Really?"
Ranma nodded. "Yep. My foster-brother, Rock, his sort-of girlfriend told me all about it. So if you can get into Taiyo, Seijyun, or Gorin High Schools, you'll be able to find someone willing to train you."
Akane was ecstatic over this revelation. Nabiki picked up on something else. "Rock? You mean Rock Howard?" she gave a low whistle. Rock Howard was well know as the heir to the Howard Fortunes. While his father, Geese, might have been a criminal, there was still a lot of legal capital to be had there. "Sort-of Girlfriend? What do you mean by that?"
Ranma smirked at the thought. "Oh, her name's Sakura. He likes her, and she likes him. It painfully obvious, but the only two who don't seem able to catch onto the fact that the feelings are mutual are Rock and Sakura..."
Kasumi giggled. That sounded like the plot of a few of her favorite manga.
Ranma went to the door. "Well, thanks for the tea. I'm sorry to have caused such a disruption in your lives."
Kasumi replied, "Oh, it was no trouble at all."
"Yeah, Ranma," Akane added. "Feel free to stop by when you're in the area! Maybe next time, I will really be able to fight you!"
Ranma chuckled. "I look forward to it." And with that, he left.
