Nabiki sighed as Akane stormed off to the dojo, most likely to release her anger depression about Ranma’s departure out.
She knew her little sister cared for Ranma, despite the loud declarations to the contrary. She’s going to let her pride cost her again.
Snorting at how foolish her sister could be at times—she was beginning to wonder whose pride would buckle first and allow them to admit their feelings—she stood up and headed off to the phone to call some people.
Ranma was away, she had the information, and it was time to make some yen.
And before Auntie starts asking us if we’ll be mistresses again for Saotome.
“You’re staying at a parking lot?” asked Ranma, as the cab drove away.
“Not really,” said Theo. “I teleported us here, so I needed a place we could teleport away from back to Atlanta.”
He was expecting Ranma to either be looking at him with disbelief or awe.
The fact that the boy just shrugged really took the wind out of his sails.
“You don’t seem too surprised,” said Brianna.
Ranma shrugged.
Sighing, Theo began the teleportation.
Ranma immediately froze. “M-m-magic!”
They disappeared before he could even take one step to run away, having decided a long time ago after Saffron that anything magic plus him could only equal trouble.
“That had to hurt,” muttered Theo, having just appeared inside his mansion, to hear Ranma immediately run right into the wall.
“Wow,” said Brianna, “not even a bruise on his face.”
“He’s knocked himself out,” said Theo. “I think he was trying to get away from us the moment he heard me casting the spell to bring us home.”
Brianna shrugged. “Maybe he’s had some bad experience with magic.”
“Try nothing but bad experiences,” muttered Ranma as he slowly pulled himself up from the broken plaster of his impact.
“Such as?” asked Theo, wondering what the kid could have come across to have given him such a phobia.
“Ghost cats, copy mirrors, wishing swords, Jusenkyo, splitting incense, cursed swords, Jusenkyo, locking pots, dragons, Jusenkyo, phoenix eggs...”
“You keep mentioning Jusenkyo,” said Theo. “I think I’ve heard of it before.”
Ranma sighed. “Let me tell you a bit of my life, Mr. Diggers,” said Ranma.
