Ranma and Akane are walking home from school. The famed tomboy Akane Tendo is dressed in her typical Furinkan High school outfit. Famed aqua-hermamorphic martial artist Ranma Saotome was dressed in his typical red and black Chinese outfit, except he wears a ninja-style hood/mask scarf. As a Ramen delivery truck rolls by, a splash of muddy water hits activating his Jusenkyö curse. Surprisingly, he doesn't change into a 4-foot-10 busty redhead. Instead he grows into a young *woman* standing at 5-foot-7. "Shimatta!!"
"Oh dear" Akane mocks, "What would Auntie say about Potty mouth?"
"This is all Happosai's fault. If he hadn't tried to lock my curse with Dancing-Water, my cursed form wouldn't have changed."
Akane surprises Ranma-chan grabbing the scarf and yanking it away. Ranma-chan has gone from a cute girl to supernaturally beautiful with flaming red hair reaching mid-back. Ranma is in a bad mood since Kunou had been raving about Goddesses all day and every pervert has been acting 100 times worse.
"Every girl in Nerima would have wanted that fairy magic. One splash and instant supermodel."
"For a few months, but thanks to my magic mines permanent. And for the Last Time, I'm a Boy you UNCUTE TOMBOY!" "RANMA NO BAKA!!"
Ranma pulls himself from the impression in the concrete, and both teens begin to head home with the sound of thunder.

In the shadows of the leafy bushes, a set of eyes watches the scene from a distance.

Ranma and Akane are almost home, when they hear crying. They turn the corner to find a cute little boy with short hair styled like male Ranma without the pigtail. He's dressed in a simple wool pullover and torn pants. He's on the ground with a couple of bags scattered around him.
"Oh!" says Akane rushing over first, "What happened, little one?"
"I was running and I fell." says the boy wiping away a few tears, "I was going to take shelter at that abandoned building.", he finishes pointing to a condemned, dangerous looking building across the street. The building had been brand new a year ago, then the Nerima Wrecking Crew ran it over during a fight.
"Hey, that a Bad Idea." says Ranma-chan, "Were do your parents live kid, we'll take to home. I'm pretty fast."
"I.. I don't have any." says the boy, looking sad and ashamed, "They died a while ago."
Ranma winces.
"You can stay with my family. We have a spare room." Akane says quickly, "The Old... Happy is on vacation."
"Really!?!" says the boy with a hopeful voice.
"Yeah!" says Ranma, adding his limited vocab, "by the way kid, what's your name??"
"Masato"
