Boredom ended as the phone finally rang. He dug the phone out of his pocket and turned it on, before holding it to his ear. “Saotome here.”
*Ranma, I have your first mission. I will direct you on how to find my office.*
---
The office in question was covered in darkness. It mostly had to do with the fact that the room had no windows (Though oddly had some blinds on the wall) and all the lights in the office was off, and any other sources of light were taped over. The only thing truly visible was a desk covered in darkness, with a figure covered in darkness (Although his eyes were perfectly visible, ala a Warner Brothers cartoon) seated at it, with a phone held to his head, also covered in darkness.
Let it be known that he/she/it always felt that darkness equals cool. He started, as we could tell that it was a male voice, to speak into the phone.
“Go to the corner of Rock and Forte to find the pay phone with the words ‘Roll was here’ painted on it. Once in there, open the phone book to page 567, and look at the first name at the bottom right. Find the corresponding street and find...” Knock Knock Knock “Hold on a sec.” The man put his shadow-covered hand over the phone. “Enter.”
The door opened, oddly illuminating nothing in the room, as Ranma stepped in, closing the door behind him.
“Ranma! How did you get here without listening to the elaborate course I had created?” The man asked, eyes wide in shock.
Ranma shrugged. “The lady that gave me the tour of the place showed me your office, and said you liked sending people in a five mile circle across Tokyo for no good reason.”
The man growled and rubbed at his shadow-concealed forehead, eyes covered in inky blackness, since he had closed them. “Whatever. I have your first assignment. It is missions like these we went out of our way to recruit you, a mission that requires stealth, speed and Mad Martial Arts Skillz. With a ‘Z’. The Z makes it... What are you doing?” The man asked as Ranma probed the shadow-concealed walls, despite the odd fact the shadows failed to cover him as well.
“Just looking for the light switch, it’s so dark in here... ah there we are!” He said as he turned the lights on, illuminating the room, and casting away the darkness to reveal a man in a business outfit, balding although covered in a toupee. A name plate on the desk held the name ‘Anderson’.
“Ranma, I was supposed to be covered in darkness, as a way to develop my character, and keep enemy spies from seeing my face.”
Insert silence.
“Umm... Boss... if they wanted to see your face, couldn’t they just steal your file?”
The man (Anderson) blinked. “Good point. Anyway, your mission, and you don’t get a say if you accept it or not is:
To investigate the Sailor Senshi, and find out what this ‘Crystal Tokyo’ our unknown source told us about is."
"Unknown source?"
"OK, it was an agent disguised as a hyperactive fan girl that tricked Sailor Moon into blathering about it."
"...That was a lame way to make up a something else."
"Hey, all the good ones are taken."
