So he had sat there, knowing from Miss Megumi that he would not have long to talk with the other swordsman. That did not matter, as long as he had managed to be there at the time. Even if he hadn't been summoned, he would have rushed there as soon as he had found out.
Being that Aoshi had need to make a request of him had driven him to make great speed for where he was asked to be.
"Please take care of Misao," Aoshi had asked of him, "She might be strong, but I want to be certain that someone I can trust will be there in case she had need of that person."
"That I will," Kenshin had agreed solemnly.
And he had. After Aoshi's death, he had consoled the grieving girl, even going as far as to take her with him to the Kamiya Dojo. Kaoru had refused to even allow the thought that Misao would be imposing, and in the cocoon of friends there, and with the Oniwaban group members making regular visits, she had managed to begin the recovery process.
Which had gotten a kick in the head when she had met a certain pigtailed young man. He had been arrogant, prideful and obnoxious at times, but he had been what she had needed. With his ability to annoy her to no end, he had managed to get her so frustrated that she couldn't remember to be sad. Then had come his clumsy attempts at apologies, which had led to a whole screwy romance that had amused as much as it had been welcome.
But now Ranma and Misao were gone. The two of them had been murdered, killed by those who had been those who had once thought to marry the boy. Leaving behind a pair of children, parentless.
He wasn't about to fail them. Aoshi had entrusted him with caring for Misao, and that passed down from mother to children. Once he found them, he would make certain that they were properly protected. just as everyone else would. The Oniwaban were out in force, looking for them. As were Sanosuke, Yahiko and the others.
No stone was to be left unturned in the search. They would get to the children first, and make certain that they were protected from their parents' murders.
So they spread out looking for them while:
