In the change that Jafar had written, the new magically powerful Gosunkugi had a wee little problem. Vast magical powers. Very little control.
As far as anyone in the area was concerned, Jafar had not granted any wishes. This was all being done "under the table" since Jafar didn't want to deal with the usual scramble for the lamp. While nicely chaotic, he'd be just getting into the shower when some new "Master" came around. So everyone remembered Gosunkugi running across an item of vast magical power, becoming a sorcerer, and turning Akane into his pet when he'd shown up to defeat Ranma.
Hikaru Gosunkugi was getting noticed now. People wanted to find him and beat the literal stuffings out of him.
Of course, now he had his pet anthropomorph to protect him. He even had her collared and leashed. Akane Tendo, his own loyal and affectionate
