"Hello?" Melfina asked.
"Hello," Suzuka said, smiling expectantly. "Is something the matter, Melfina?" In truth, she didn't really relish Melfina's reaction to the news of Gene's...situation.
"Well, Aisha's pregnant," Melfina said.
"Yes," Suzuka said, turning serious. "I suspected as much, how is Gene handling this."
"He's marrying Aisha," Melfina said. "We've decided it's the only way."
"I respect the decision and sympathize with your position Melfina," Suzuka said.
"Pardon?" Melfina said confused.
"I'm certain you'll find someone else," Suzuka said. "There are billions of beings out there..."
"Oh!" Melfina said. "I'm marrying Gene too!"
Suzuka's train of thought came to a wrecking stop with the sound of a scratched record.
"Excuse me," Suzuka said not certain she heard that correctly.
"Yes," Melfina said. "I'm surprised Gene didn't think of it himself, but there are numerous human cultures that allow that, and Ctarl-Ctarl also is polygamous so..."
"This is your idea?" Suzuka said, even more surprised.
"Yes," Melfina said. "Which brings me to why I'm calling. Would you be interested..."
"In joining the three of you?" Suzuka asked.
"Well, yes," Melfina said.
"I believe I'll pass," Suzuka said. "Besides, if we have all brides, there'll be no bridesmaids."
"That is a good point," Melfina said. "Well, I'll see you soon."
The communication ended leaving a very bewildered assassin.
"This is an...odd...development," Suzuka said.
