This was the case when Lisa woke up this morning with Charla's voice in her ear.
The thing was, It wasn't the usuall deep rumbling of a Charizard's normal voice. Lisa distinctively heard: "Miss Lisa, we have a problem!"
Lisa's eyes fluttered open. Charla's worried face stared back at her. But something was odd about it. The snout was a litle shorter, maybe an inch or two, but definitely noticable. In addition, her ears ware far more defined, actually noticable, about an inch long. But aside from that, nothing seemed too...Then Lisa looked lower.
Charla's neck was a lot shorter, barely a foot in length now. And under it was a slim, but massively muscled humanoid form, her wings folded around her shoulders like a cape. A(huge) male form was standing right behind her, holding his arms protectively(or was that reassuringly?) around her waist. Even with the changes, Lisa could recognize the Carizard raised by Ash by his actions alone. Over the past few months, the two of them had been getting rather close, and Charizard's confidence to claim her grew as his strength did. Whatever happened was apparently enough to push him all the way, Necessity being a mother and all.
"Ch-charla! What happened to you?"
Charizard put his arms behind his back shamefully. "It was my fault" he said in a rumbling bass. "We were training by the Lake, and..." Charizard stuttered, "Well..."
"He shot at me, but I dodged." Charla finished. "His flame evaporated a good chunk of the lake, and hit this." She held out a blanket that has been hanging outside, which fell open to reveal a large red gem. "The next thing we know, there's a huge flash of flame, and..." Charla spread her wings to better show herself. "When we woke up, we looked like this. So did any of the other Charizards in the area, about twenty or thirty of us."
A sudden roar drew their gazes out the window. A fight had broken out between a normal Charizard, and one of the altered ones.
A vein stood out on Charizard's temple. "Excuse me..." He said as he stomped out the door, intent on squashing the argument before any firepower was exchanged.
With Charizard gone, tears started streaming from Charla's eyes. "Lisa, what are we going to do?" She pleaded, "Half the others are afraid of us, and much of the other half want us gone or worse! Charizard's doing whatever he can, but he's still not the stongest here. What if the stronger ones turn against us?"
Lisa got up as a crash sounded through the walls. Charizard had found his favoriite way of dealing with a situation: Directed Violence. Both parties in the argument were now out cold.
Both girls sighed. "Men!"
