She shrugged off that, and the question as to why she'd never really noticed this about Ranma before, and went out the door, bursting with curiousity.
It was only a few minutes later that she was taking a seat in a cafe booth and looking over a menu.
"Well, Miss Tendo," a man's voice said. "Lovely to see you at last."
The menu came down and Nabiki looked across the table to see an tall American in a dark suit sitting there.
"What?" she stuttered. "Who are you?"
"My name is Morris, I have a job offer," the man said. Nabiki began to feel a nervous trickle all over her body as she wondered what sort of trap she'd just walked into.
"What if I refuse?" she asked.
"Well," Morris said. "We simply wipe you're memory of these events and take your name off the clearance list for the cloaking spells."
"Cloaking sp-" Nabiki blinked. "This was a test to see what I'd do, wasn't it."
"Yes," the man said. "And you came here rather than try to blackmail Miss Saotome or sell her information. We're very pleased."
"Who is we?" Nabiki asked.
"Why, Miss Tendo," the man said. "I'm certain you can guess." There was silence for a moment.
"So, what's the job?" she asked.
"You've guessed that as well," the man said, smiling.
"Right," Nabiki said. "What are the benefits and responsibilities and such."
"Five year contract, renewable," the man said. "Superpowers for life, nigh-agelessness, magical capability, instant fluency in the English language, immunity to disease, total reproductive control, killer body while transformed, American citizenship on completion of contract if so chosen. For the space of the contract you perform the missions we ask you too."
"What's the pay like?" Nabiki asked. "Are there any side-effects to this transformation?"
"Well the base pay is minimal, but you get salvage rights to any non-illegal items recovered," the man said. "Jewels and such things that monsters tend to accumulate."
"And the side effects?" Nabiki asked. "Like why do you refer to Ranma as 'Miss'?"
"Well, Miss Saotome did not make us aware of her actual gender before the procedure," the man said uncomfortably. "Nor were we aware of that particular side-effect as she was the first test subject."
"So you're saying you changed a shy boy cursed to turn into a girl," Nabiki started. "And turned him into a nymphomaniac, bi-sexual girl able to change into a guy."
"About right," the man said. "However, Miss Saotome seems to have no problems with handling the side-effect."
