"It is good that you, a simple thug, have decided to act as any true gentleman would," intoned Kuno self-righteously, "but know that no man would ever be able to defeat the wonder that is my skill. Which in a fight for the fair Ranma's hand would be boosted to greatness that one such as yourself would never be able to percieve!"
"That's where you're wrong! I'm fighting for Ranma and that means that I can't give up, especially to a fool like you!"
"You are truly mistaken, as it is I who shall have the redheaded angel's heart behind him on the battlefield!"
"Excuse me!" barked Ranma, "Are you two forgettin' somethin'?!"
"Pardon my haste, my lovely lady, in not approaching you earlier, but my wish to strike down this cretin, I forgot to make certain of your well being."
"Hah!" growled Ryouga, "If anyone was going to hurt her, it would be you!"
"Again you misspeak and utter a total falsity, as I would not harm a delicate petal on my red flower. Only a crass fool such as yourself would manage such an act."
"WHAT?! I would never do anything to dishonor her like that!"
"Then let us see if you are as honorable as you pretend to be," stated Kuno pompously as he leaned his bokken on his shoulder, "On the battlefield. In three days time, be upon the Furinkan soccer field, and be ready to lose."
"I'll be there, and I'll win!"
"We shall see, now won't we?" the swordsman said as he strode away.
For most girls, the situation would have generated two sorts of feelings. Some would have been happy that two guys would think so highly of her that they would fight a duel over her. On the other hand, some girls would think that having a duel over her, especially without asking her would be like treating her like a piece of property.
Ranma was not 'most girls' and as far as she was concerned, she was really a guy, no matter what the world did. As such, she did not think that it would be nice or that she wanted more consideration. That would mean that she actually cared.
So she merely slapped a hand over her face and groaned. "You idiots!"
When some of the girls started in on the Lost Boy over his lack of consideration of her and her 'obvious distress' over that fact, Ryouga started stammering apologies to them and to her. The teacher threw up his hand and wondered where control of his class had gone. And some of the girls had come over to sympathise with Ranma's 'plight'.
It was nice to have them on her side for a change, though she wasn't really paying attention to what they were saying. All she wanted to do was to find the wizard and have him fix things. Was that too much to ask?
Watching the Kuno Heir sit in his chair with a supremely smug look on his face, Nabiki raised an eyebrow. Whatever he had done with her information had made him terribly pleased with himself. That wasn't hard though, what with his puffed up ego. It made her want to know what had happened, and since he wasn't quick on the uptake even when he wasn't floating on delusions of his own greatness, that wouldn't be hard to find out.
So easy in fact, that all she had to do was ask. "What happened Kuno-baby?"
He favored her with a haughty look. "I went to go punish the one who would attempt to sully the fair Ranma and discovered that the heathen was sitting right next to her. Fortunately, he decided to follow the code of a true gentleman and agreed to a duel for the lovely flower's hand, and in front of the beautiful wonder as well."
"Hmmm... Interesting..."
"Yes, I would think that even one such as yourself would find it interesting. Now cease bothering me, as I must take the time until then to ponder my glorious strategies."
"Who, me?"
"Yes, you. So end your useless prattle."
"Ingrate," muttered the middle Tendo daughter. But she was always one to find a bright spot in a problem. Hibiki and Kuno in a duel over Ranma? That meant that she would have an opportunity there. And she had the perfect way to raise the stakes.
She giggled to herself while:
