A saying that even hold true for Team Rocket.
For once, they weren't concerned with plots to capture Pikachu, or steal this pokemon or that artifact... no, Jessie, James, and all their pokemon were concerned with something else at that moment.
The pleasant feeling of being full.
Due to a bit of good luck, Jessie and James had acquired a substantial gift certificate to the convenience store they had originally intended to rob. Instead, they got a veritable feast for free. (Admittedly, it was mostly made up of instant noodles and canned pasta... but to people who, more often than not, had to subsist off of what they could forage, even that was an exciting proposition. Heck, even the pokemon were more than happy to have generic pokechow for once!)
Knowing quite well their own track record with such things, they had immediately bundled everything off to a secluded local and proceeded to have their feast, all the while expecting some pokemon - or a particular group of twerps - to interrupt them. Thus, it was quite the pleasant surprise when they actually finished off the food without a single occurrence. As such, they were feeling unusually mellow and content with themselves at the moment. Everything was perfect.
Well, almost everything. The sounds of a huge pokemon battle nearby was disturbing the atmosphere. Jessie growled as the sounds came closer. "Why now?" She asked to no one in particular.
"Maybe we should check it out. We might be able to capture some pokemon after they've been weakened in battle." James pointed out.
The others thought about that for a while.
"Ah... just forget it," Meowth said at last. "If we don't get involved, they'll leave us alone. Me, I'm gonna catch a cat-nap."
"Wobbuffet!"
"See, even Wobbuffet agrees wit me. " And with that, he closed his eyes.
"Yeah, can't really argue with that..." Jessie mummered. James was already closing his eyes.
Then a huge flash of light and a tremendous noise ripped through the air above them, rousing all the would-be sleepers.
"What was that?!" Jessie yelled.
"That was a solar beam!" Meowth replied, "but what was it shooting at...?"
Then a soft thumping drew their attention. They all blinked, unable to believe what had just dropped - literally - into their laps. A huge purple gemstone, around the size of a man's fist.
"Is that what I think it is...?" James asked.
"If ya think it's a big gem, than yeah, it is." Meowth quipped.
Jessie snatched it up, and held it above. "Yes! Team Rocket's fortune's have changed!"
"Yeah! With a gem that big, we'll be able to sell it for enough to pay off our debts!" James exclaimed, enthused.
"Who said anything about selling it?" Jessie retorted. Then her eyes got all sparkly. "Such beauty as this and my own deserve to be together!"
"Oh, no! We need to sell it to get out of debt!" James yelled back at his partner.
"Wobbuffet?"
"I gotta agree with James. We need da money, not jewelry."
"Wobbuffet!"
"No! I won't give it up!"
"We need that money!"
"WOBBUFFET!!"
"WHAT?!" Three voices demanded of the blue blob. In return, Wobbuffet just pointed at the gemstone.
The other three looked at it. It was glowing. And steadily getting brighter.
All the members of Team Rocket, human and pokemon alike, got that feeling that they were about to blast off again.
Jessie sighed. Of course it had been too good to be true. "Oh, cr-"
And then the Chaos Emerald erupted with power, for second time in as many days...
