Knuckles pushed hismelf off and got to his knees. "What happened? Where's the Emerald?"
"Thanks to your impatience," Rouge said, getting to her feet. "the Emerald is missing, and someone else has just activated it again!" She reached out a hand to help Knuckles the rest of the way up, but he batted it away. "Hmph! They're a few dozen miles from here." She said, pointing in the appropriate direction.
"The Emerald went off again?" Knuckles said, breaking off into a run in the direction Rouge pointed, Rouge hot on his heels.
"I felt it a minute ago." Rouge replied.
"Just great!"

"What was that?" Bayleef asked, looking off into the trees.
"I dunno," Bulbasaur said. "but it felt like that Gem did right when it transformed us."
"Do you think someone else just got transformed?" Misty asked.
"Nothing else to do but find out! Ash said as he helped Noctowl to his feet, "We have to get that Gem back!"
As they ran off in the direction they felt the Gem's power from, Ash's mind was racing. Pikachu and the others used many of the same abilities they had as Pokemon, and seemed to use them out of reflex. He smiled a little, happy at least that they were still much like their original selves. Maybe even they were still Pokemon, to some extent? But if that were true, maybe... Ash pushed the thought out of his mind and focused on the path ahead. They still needed to talk to Professor Oak before anything else.
"Guys, Wait up!" Brock huffed as he chased off after the group. He could've sworn Ash and Misty weren't quite that fast before. If the gem made Ash's Pokemon partially human, maybe it was turning him and Misty into... They really needed to speak to the Professor as soon as possible.

"Victreebell, get off!" James pleaded, "I can't breathe!"
That finally did it. "Sorry master..." Victreebell said, reluctantly unwrapping James. She gave the Would-be thief a moment to catch his breath before grabbing him in a somwhat looser, but just as affectionate, hug.
"Will you get off of him?" Jessie fumed. Really, it was shameful the way this little flytrap was hanging off her partner... friend... whatever!... like that.
"Yeah!" Meowth said. "We gotta take dis rock to Da Boss before something else happens!"
"What do you mean?" James asked.
"Everytime we get something done," a suprising voice came from Wobbuffet, "Something happens, and we get Blasted."
The rustling of leaves signalled the entrance of two creatures that appeared to be altered Pokemon as well. Another crash and skidding sound heralded Pikachu and Cyndaquil's somewhat ameturish stop into the clearing, followed shortly by the rest of the group.
"Team Rocket!" Pikachu cried.
"Give me the Emerald!" Knuckles shouted, causing Rouge to slap her forehead in frustration.
"Pikachu?" Meowth said in confusion.
"Meowth?" Cyndaquil asked.
"The Twerps!" Jessie cried, as Ash and Misty broke into the area.
"Team Rocket!" Ash and Misty cried in unison.
"You again?!" Knuckles said.
"And so it goes..." Wobbuffet said, pressing a hand to his temple in resignation.
