Tenchi - One Lump Or Two: The Morning After... Just What the Hell Happened Anyway?! [Episode 61436]

by NXS

Given the uniqueness of his "situation" Tenchi Misaki had gotten used to many things. For example, he was used to Ryoko popping in on him at all times of the day ; particullary when he was in bed or in the bath. He'd grown used to Washu's pocket dimensions, gadgets, and strange experiments. He was even used to the living disaster area named "Mihoshi".

More than that, the boy had traveled through space, across time, had defeated the the likes of Kagato and had even fought along side his deceased mother against the crossdimensional menace that was Kain.

So what could surprise someone who'd seen and done these things? Picture this : shattered glass window, singe marks on the walls and ceiling, and an unconscious girl lying near the foot of his bed. More to the point, an unsconscious girl with long hair that was pink on one side, white on the other, and clad in rather questionable body armor.

Providing that's what it was.

A faint groan was heard as she began to stir. Her eyes blinked behind their lids before slowly fluttering open. She failed to notice him right away as she was busy massaging her temple and muttering something to herself, though Tenchi couldn't make it out. She sat up, reaching blindly for the edge of the bed to support herself.

It wasn't until Tenchi cleared his throat that she realized she wasn't alone. Her eyes went wide, clearly as surprised to see him as he'd been to find her in his room. Though the look he was wearing now had 'you've-got-some-explaining-to-do' written all over it. Only she wasn't sure where to begin. Namely because she couldn't remember what'd happened. At least, not all of it. Oh wait.

She did.

Birdy's head was killing her. All she wanted right now was soft warm bed and about eigthy hours of sleep. And maybe four or five asprin. Of course, that wasn't going to happen unless she got up first. Besides, she had to get Tsutomu home before his parents or, worse, his sister noticed he'd been out all night.

As she sat up, she massaged her temple to relieve the pain. But it wasn't helping. It was then that she realized she was a little lightheaded as well. Birdy blindly reached out for support to get herself back to her feet. If this kept up, they'd have to stop by her ship on the way back.

The sound of someone clearing their throat gained her attention. Her eyes flew open wide, landing on a boy about Tsutomu's age who was clad in a T-shirt and sweatpants. And none to happy from the looks of it. Her eyes made a quick sweep of the room before coming back to him.

'Oh boy.'

Clearly, he was waiting for an explaination, which she'd love to give to him. As soon as she remembered what it was. Bits and pieces of the previous night rattled around in her head ; then suddenly came together.

"Well?" they boy asked with mild annoyance. Birdy closed her eyes and grinned, "This... looks bad, doesn't it?"

"Gee, ya think?" he replied sarcastically. Then gesturing wildly with his arms, "Look at this mess! Just what the heck happened to my room? Better yet, who are you and what're you doing here?" he ranted.

Birdy had just begun to answer at least one of those when they heard multiple sets of feet running up the stairs ; no doubt, drawn by Tenchi's outburst. Sure enough, the door flew open and several people, mostly girls, flooded through the doorway.

"Lord Tenchi, whatever is the mat -" one girl began. Then laying eyes on Birdy, dryly asked, "Oh my. Who's this?" Apparently annoyed by her presence for some reason. Another girl, this one with a spiky mane of cyan hair, shoved her way past the first one. "Yeah, who're you and what're doing in Tenchi's room?" she asked with what sounded like a hint of jealousy. Once again, Birdy began to respond, only to be cut off again.

"What's all the commotion about?" came a deep elderly voice as an old man, perhaps fifty or more, entered the room. Followed by a girl about twelve or so, with deep blue hair and pigtails. And another one who looked much like the cyan haired girl, only shorter and with brilliant pink hair. All eyes were on her, causing her to break out in a grin and laugh nervously.

Right now, Tsutomu was glad Birdy was in control, 'cuz he'd have probably fainted. Either that or broke down crying.

"Well?" Tenchi asked, "I'm waiting."

Her headache forgotten, Birdy cleared her throat. Then, with the same grin asked, "So... what would you like to know first?"

"Oh I don't know," he replied, "how about :"
