"Why should we beleive you?" Uranus demanded beligerently, "you're working for the enemy after all?"
"Yeah, because we were drafted," the Governor explained patiently. "Look, would you beleive we're hedging our bets?"
"By doing us the favour of warning us now in the hope that we'll remember if we win the final round?" Mercury remarked. "That makes sense, I guess."
"That too. Some of the policies we've had to implement aren't that popular, but people listen because we've got a near omnipotent alien behind us."
"Then why do it?" Neptune demanded.
"Because we've got a near omnipotent alien on our backs," the Governor repeated. "Look, you don't have to beleive in our motives, you just have to listen to public oppinion and form your own conclusion. Speaking of which, maybe you'd best stop messing around with that simulation. It is being broadcast live, you know."
"Well, that should give everyone something to think about, anyway," the Governor commented as he slid into the aircar. "Is reception clear on the nanobugs, Cho?"
"Affirmative," the humaniform computer responded. "Sensor units are in position and concealed from detection."
"Good, she scanned the obvious distraction without searching for anything else then," the Governer sighed. "Or maybe not so good, depending. Ah, well, hopefully we'll have some warning if someone does something stupid. Let's go home, Cho, by way of the Cape York project I think."
"He seemed genuinely concerned, but he's probably got other motives than our best interest," Setsuna observed as the vehicle flittered over the horizon. "Still, it won't do any harm to take precautions."
