"Now, now, Miki-chan," Rumi said calmly, walking over to her daughter. "Why don't we all get inside and talk things over?" Not waiting for an answer, she took Miki's hand and pulled her into the house.
Soun and Nodoka were the first to go inside, Genma following them, still in shock. When Miki and Rumi entered, the latter closing the door behind her, the group gathered in the Tendo living room, the four adults facing Miki.
"You see..." Rumi said nervously, biting on her lower lip. Soun patted his wife's shoulder reassuringly, and she smiled at him gratefully, before continuing. "Like I was saying, the Tendo and Saotome families have had this pledge, signed before either you or Genma and Nodoka's son, Ranma, were born. The pledge had been made to unite our clans, and at first you two kids were going to be the ones to do it--"
"Hey, wait a moment!" Miki squeaked. "I have a fiance?!"
Soun coughed. "Not anymore."
Nodoka took over the explanation. "You see, today I came here on a premonition that I would finally be reuinited with my husband and my manly son... and fell in love with your father!"
"That's right!" Rumi agreed, no longer as nervous as she had been at the beginning of the conversation. "And Mr. Saotome just fell in love with Mama! Isn't that great?"
Nodoka, Soun and Rumi joined hands, and in a sing-song voice the three announced, "We're going to exchange partners and fulfil that pledge!"
Soun nudged the slightly-catatonic Genma with his foot. "Isn't that right, old friend?"
Genma nodded distractedly. "Whatever you say, Tendo-kun."
"I can't believe this!" Miki shouted, her hands balling into fists.
"That makes two of us."
Miki looked at the direction of the voice that intruded on the surreal gathering, and her breath caught in her throat.
'What a hunk!' Miki's life just got a whole lot weirder, but somehow, she feels... elated?
Cue Ranma, having let himself in.
