“Is the coffee ready yet?” A voice asked behind her.
Makoto yelped and jumped almost to the ceiling and turned to see Hiei standing behind her. Clad in his pants, and a sleeveless gi top. “Stop doing that! And the coffee isn’t ready yet!”
Hiei uncrossed his arms, “Fine just let me know when it is. Oh and if Ranma comes down while I’m outside, let him know.” The demon said as he walked out of the kitchen.
Makoto felt the urge to kick the demon in the ass, but knew from chasing him around their room last night, that was a snowball’s chance in hell. The little prick was fast! At least he said he wouldn’t say anything about her eyeing that porn last night, talk about embarrassing.
Shaking her head she muttered, “Aw forget that wiseass demon, time to get to cooking.”
With her usual grace and expert culinary skills, it didn’t take her long to get the first part of breakfast cooking. A pan of sausages and bacon sizzled, while she cooked scrambled eggs, and some toast was toasting in the toaster.
Then she heard the sound of footsteps coming, telling her that someone was approaching. She cocked her head to the side and saw Ranma in his pants and a muscle-shirt stood in the doorway of the kitchen. Suffice to say, it took all her will power not to drool, least it fell into the food.
“Hey Makoto, I see your up early too.” Ranma said waving casually as he strode in. “And from the looks of things, cooking some more delights.”
“Tee-hee, I just like to get up and cook ya’know. Experience pays off when your dream is to open your own restaurant.” The senshi of Jupiter replied in a playfully tone.
“Oh boy you are not kidding, unlike a certain tomboy I told you about, you take the time to do your cooking right.”
“From your description of her form of cooking, it sounds like she rushes like it’s a race or a challenge of some sort.”
“I guess it didn’t help when my competitive nature got the better of me and I challenged her to a cooking match when my Mom was around. She works too hard to try and improve.”
“Well, she wants to improve so fast she keeps making the same mistakes, and I guess a klutz –disorder isn’t working in her favor either.” Makoto said, recalling Usagi’s attempts at cooking. Poor girl put her heart and effort into it, but she just kept screwing up something.
Ranma shrugged, and turned his head when the coffee machine began to beep. He walked over and took the pot off, “Want a cup?”
“Yes please, and get one for that demon jerk, he’s outside waiting for you.”
Ranma chuckled, “I see Hiei’s made an impression with you, just don’t let it get to ya’ Makoto. Deep down under that rough stuff, he’s got a soft spot.”
Makoto rolled her eyes as she kept one eye on cooking, the other on Ranma as he poured the coffee, “Must be hidden deep if there’s any softy spots in him. Oh, and I’ll have cream and sugar in mine.” She said in response to an unasked question.
Ranma nodded, and fixed her coffee as she told. He left the other two mugs normal, as he and the fire youkai preferred their coffee black and strong.
“Here you go one cream and sugar.” Ranma said as he placed her mug on the counter next to her.
“Thank you Ranma, and breakfast is in 30.” Makoto replied as she reached for the mug and took a sip.
“Got’cha.” Ranma nodded as he walked past her with the other two mugs. Upon stepping out onto the porch, he found Hiei standing arms crossed as if waiting. Ranma walked up and offered his mug.
Hiei reached and accepted the mug, nodding his thanks as he took a swig, “I’ll credit humans this, they sure made a good brew of something good.”
Ranma chuckled, “Still going with the hardass façade?”
“And you aren’t?” Hiei retorted.
“Eh, still got a bit to go, but I’ve been trying to improve myself in the personality arena as well as fighting.” Ranma shrugged as he sipped his cup o’ joe. “…Say Hiei don’t you think it’s weird we blabbed out stories like that? I mean, I’m trying to be more honest and stuff with people, but you know I hate making my life sound like a frigging sob story.”
Hiei nodded, “I think that Washu woman had something to do with our loosened tongues. She seems like the nosey type to me, and if she’s the genius she claims to be I wouldn’t doubt she’d find a way.”
“So what’s our sparring agenda?”
“Just light today, since we’ll be going over the shrine care-taking with Washu today, and since it is our first day, might as well relax.” The demon responded.
“All right, but you know what, I find something else very odd.”
“That being?”
“The former King of the Fighters, the top Digimon & Dule Monsters card duelists and a Digimon, a demon who I’m a reincarnation of, whatever Genn and Brianna are, Washu, Kagome and Makoto are also giving off some powerful vibes, you, me. Isn’t that just a very odd if not freaky combination of diverse and radical people for a TV show?”
“I guess they wanted to see how much chaos individuals like us could stir and get high TV ratings, or whatever the hell the reason is.” Hiei finished his coffee and set the mug down, “Enough talk , now let’s get down to business.”
Ranma couldn’t help but smirk. “Your on.”
