“So ... you ain’t real?” he asked carefully.
She sighed a bit, causing the suit to show things he’d rather have not seen; making him reach towards his wallet as if a great many yen cried out, and were suddenly silenced. “This form was constructed using a combination of organic and inorganic technologies. I am in fact a living organism in many meanings of the word.”
“...”
‘Nabiki’ sighed again, ignoring Ranma as hit pinched his nose closed. Maybe she could just upload some information into his brain. Well, she might, but she didn’t want his head to pop like an over inflated balloon. So she tried to dumb it down. “Me alive, me make ship go zoom.”
“Hey!”
She nodded; glad he had at least understood that.
“And what happened to that you before ... um ... you came in?”
Smirking, the hologram version of her reappeared. “I am the ship, Master. I can be anywhere I want. This physical variant of myself is for times and places where my holographic self cannot reach,” she said, as the hologram tried to grope him, only to shock him by passing through his body.
“So what’s this mean for me?” he asked, grumbling quietly about evil computer thingies.
“You are my Master,” said ‘Nabiki’.
“Yeah, so?”
“It means you are my Captain, my Commander, you tell me where to go, what to do, and so forth; well, aside from creating the destruction of the universe or large scale deaths for no particular reason. I am allowed to wipe out star systems under certain conditions.”
Now many who knew Ranma would say one thing about him: he liked power. Sure, he didn’t seek it that often, unless it dropped in his lap. Otherwise he was very happy with the status quo.
So it was a bit of a shock when he discovered a very powerful starship had just claimed him as its captain—of course his ego decided it was because the ship was female and damned if they all didn’t want Ranma, if Nerima was any indication—and he could basically bring the wrath of God onto a civilization ... maybe. He didn’t put it past a starship based on ‘Nabiki’ to ‘forget’ to inform him of a few things. Hell, for all he knew, this AI or whatever was just ‘Nabiki’ in a new form.
Of course, she could also just be a fusion of all of his fiancées.
“Are you cold, Master?” asked ‘Nabiki’, seeing him shiver for a bit.
“Um...” he started, wondering what not to say, since he heard that space wasn’t a good thing to be tossed into.
