So now she was stuck at home, cleaning up this mess while her two younger sisters had gone off to Ranko's house they mentioned earlier with that delicious looking stud muffin.
Luckily before Kasumi could drift off into a house destroying daydream, the phone rang. Since no one else was around she dropped what she was doing and went to go pick up the phone.
"Hello, Tendo Dojo."
"Hello Kasumi," a girl's voice said from the other end. "It's me Ranko, is Akane home?"
"Oh Ranko-chan," the oldest Tendo daughter replied in her usual perma-happy tone. "What a pleasant surprise, a hunky young man was here earlier asking about you."
Up in her room on the other end of Nerima, Ranko took the phone away from her ear and blinked at it a few times. Judging my Kasumi's words something must have been wrong with the line, no way she had just heard Kasumi describe someone as 'hunky'.
Then she overcame her confusion and let the actual information of Kasumi’s words sink in. ‘Somebody’s looking for me?’ she thought. Quickly Ranko started to run down the list of facts in her head, putting two and do together.
1) Male arrives at Tendo Dojo asking about her. 2) It had been quiet the last couple of months. 3) Her father was Genma Saotome, notorious for making engagements for all types of stupid things. Conclusion: WARNING! Possible incoming fiancé (again)
Well, she might as well get his name and double check just to make sure. Kasumi seemed to forget to tell people some of the most important things while usually thinking they’re it’s just trivial information.
“Hey Kasumi, what was this guy’s name?” Ranko asked. “And why’d he want to know where I was?”
“Oh, he said his name was Ranma Diggers,” the older girl said. “ He said he knew you in some way and wanted directions to your house and left with Akane and Nabiki. Oh my! You don’t think he’s another fiancé do you Ranko-chan? I mean, he is a bit old for you.” Ranko blinked twice at hearing Kasumi’s voice on the other end, the last part sounded as if she was scolding Ranko for trying to take her boyfriend or something.
“Uh, no need to worry Kasumi,” Ranko assured her. “He’s someone I met awhile ago, we’re just friends.”
“Oh good,” Kasumi replied back to her cheerful tone. “I wouldn’t want you stealing my-I mean, seducing, uh…I gotta go!” and with that the phone hung up with a ‘click’ and left Ranko on the receiving end of that annoying disconnected tone.
Ranko lowered the receiver away from her ear and blinked, once, twice, thrice. “Me thinks she’s been living in a house with Happosai for too long,” the girl finally said as her mind worked out just what the heck happened.
Luckily for Ranma, her mind was in such a state of confusion over Kasumi’s behavior that it completely forgot to ask the question of just why Ranma stopped off at the Tendo Dojo before heading to the Saotome home.
