Wild Aura: Motherly Concerns [Episode 65354]

by Proteus

Julia Brigand Diggers sat in the very modest dinning room of her and Theo’s little get away while looking out the window to enjoy the scenery in front of her. Up here in the hills there wasn’t a town around for miles, no people, and no marauding bandits or other annoyances to disturb her. Except of course for that feeling in the back of her mind that there was just something wrong back at home.

The feeling itself wasn’t all that new to her; just the usual everyday mother worrying about her children. Of course had it been any usual family the mother wouldn’t be this concerned, but when it came to the Diggers family, a usual week with them entailed treasure hunting, evil scientists out for lycanthrope DNA, demons, and then there was the REALLY weird stuff that seemed to pop up on the weekends. All that, added to the fact that Brittany was now with child, gave the Armsmaster of Jade more than enough reason to be concerned.

“Theo dear,” Julia called out to her Arch-mage husband. “Would you come in here for a moment?”

A few minutes later a man with a short beard of gray hair and a skintight black suit walked into the room. “Yes Julia?” Theodore Diggers had seen the redhead in this…funk all day and knew what she would eventually be getting at.

“Perhaps we should go check on the kids,” she said. “Just a quick pop in and out. I mean, I that healer at Seer’s Hamlet and Brittany’s werewolf friend Jetta gave her advice and everything about the pregnancy, but what if were-creatures differ from species to species in that regard? It’s not like they would really know.”

“Julia,” Theo replied while trying to soothe his wife. “If you just want me to read the baby’s aura Ranma and the others are more than capable of something like that. If something does happen that they can’t handle I’m sure they’d contact us.”

Julia just looked at her husband with one of those ‘yeah right’ looks before looking back out the window. “That’s what I’m a little worried about,” she told him. “It’s been two weeks and we haven’t heard anything from Ranma or the girls. Even if they were in trouble they’d contact us just to say everything was okay to try and buy themselves a little time to clean up their mess, and probably make us come home all the more sooner. Hell, when was the last time you and I actually were able to finish a vacation without something happening back home?”

“I must admit you have a point there,” the mage said while scratching his beard. Truth be told, ever since his girls were old enough to get out of the house on their own they seemed to find trouble no matter how well buried in a tomb it was. Ranma was even worse, he didn’t really have to do anything, ever since he knew the basics of magic trouble just seemed to find him.

“Come on then,” he said before taking his wife’s hand. “If were lucky, we’ll be fooled by whatever front they put up and can get back here before dark.”
