All of their actions were suddenly brought to a halt when the door opened up and revealed a middle aged woman with red hair in a kimono. Well, it seemed Nodoka hadn't changed that much, apart from the missing sword that is.
"Oh Akane what a pleasant surprise," the woman said to the youngest guest. "Ranko called your house a few moments ago but Kasumi said you were already on your way."
Akane and the woman quickly exchanged pleasantries and seemed to forget the world around them for a moment before Ranma finally coughed into his hand and brought them back to the world. "Miss Saotome," Ranma said while extending his hand. "I'm Ranma Diggers, a...bossiness associate of Ranko's. She does some work for me from time to time and asked if I was ever in the area to stop by so we could meet face to face."
Nodoka blinked at hearing the name before remembering that Americans shook hands instead of bowed and complied. So this is why Ranko had been so cheerful until lunch. Nodoka knew that her daughter did a little bit of work for an author who lived overseas, and got paid exceedingly well for it. Now if only her daughter was a few years older...
Suddenly the traditional woman realized that she had just left them hanging. "Come in won't you, I'm sure Ranko will be very happy to hear you've arrived."
As he stepped into the Saotome home Ranma finally took his eyes off the Saotome woman and ceased his examination of her aura. After a quick but careful scan he could tell she didn't have a drop of were-blood in her.
'I really should stop jumping to conclusions like that' Ranma thought to himself as he stepped into the house. When he had heard the word "silver" the mage had immediately started thinking of the main type of creature that was effected by it and who he had the most experience with: werecreatures.
But there were hundreds of legends about Japanese Oni, Youkai, Yoma, and other things whose weakness might have included silver as well. Ranma very much doubted that it was just the father who was a were, breeding between a magical and non-magical species was uphill battle that his sister could attest to personally.
"Let me just fix you some tea real quick and then I'll go get my daughter," Nodoka said as she lead them to the living room to let them find their seats.
