"I don't see why I can't drive," Haruka grumped from the passenger seat in the front of Setsuna's car.
"I assure you I am a perfectly competent driver," Setsuna replied in the vacantly happy monotone which was becoming her usual manner of speech.
"Come on, Haruka, we're both pretty jet-lagged. There's no need for you to do all the driving," Michiru remonstrated from the back of the car.
Haruka looked affronted at the implied slight to her driving skills, "I could still drive better than old Bunhead in my sleep..." she mumbled under her breath.
Michiru giggled slightly. "Bunhead? I thought that was Usagi's nickname?"
Haruka twitched slightly at being overheard, but saw Setsuna wasn't reacting in the slightest, remaining focused on her driving. "Usagi is Dumpling Head 'cause she has those little dumplings. Setsuna wears her hair in a bun. It's different. And she is old, but still manages to look young and beautiful, eheh..." Haruka trailed off as Setsuna failed to so much as twitch at the cack-handed compliment.
The foursome continued driving along in silence for several more minutes before Haruka suddenly leaned forwardm saying "Let's listen to some music," and started fiddling with the radio.
"No, you shouldn't," Setsuna said as she moved her hand to turn the radio off, but not quickly enough.
BZZT CRACKLE"And in other news, over 90% of Japan's population have been absorbed and duplicated, with the holdouts expected to be processed within the next two days. With all the conflicts from individual identities removed, nothing can stop the nation of Japan as we spread-" the radio ceased with a CRACKLE as Setsuna finally managed to turn it off.
"What the...?" Haruka gave a panicked look to Setsuna as she noted that the car had pulled over and the older woman was now regarding her very intently.
"Obviously it's a joke broadcast. It is April first, after all," Setsuna said in her vacant monotone.
"It's August," put in Michiru from the back of the car, who was looking more than a little pale at this point.
Setsuna turned to regard Michiru. "Who are you going to trust? The Calendar or me?"
Michiru giggled in a slightly manic fashion. "Yes... good point," her eyes sought out Haruka's and an unspoken message was conveyed. We're in deep shit.
Ever so discretely, the two Outer Senshi began to reach for their transformation pens, but not discretely enough for Hotaru. "It would have been better if you had not suspected. The process would happen in your sleep and be totally painless. Now we must subdue you."
