Dark Matter: Mistakes [Episode 67488]

by Onion Slime (^_^)

Had it been a movie, things would have gone better.

Had it been a movie the heroes would have come running from the building with guns blazing, damn the consequences.

Had it been a movie the beautiful heroine would have dispatched her foe with such grace and ease that the audience would have applauded loudly in the theatre, spilling popped corn and soda the night crew would be forced to clean up.

Had it been a movie the sounds of sirens would have heralded the approach of law enforcement, too late to do anything but clean up yet again. The mind controlled allies would have come to her senses.

Had it been a movie all things would have worked themselves out neatly.

But reality was a bitch.

"Deep Submerge!" The manna powered senshi attack blew out both of the front seats in the decimated automobile, slamming into the Sandman Hotaru and sending her through a store front. Wheeler recoiled as the street was showered in glass and mortar from the backlash of the energy explosion.

"Shit, I gotta learn how to do that."

Neptune turned toward Wheeler, a green energy already forming in her hands.

"Whoa! Whoa!" He backed up quickly, raising both hands. "I'm one of the good guys!"

Neptune let the energy disperse. Wheeler let out a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding. Dying at the hands of one of the good guys would have been a bitch. Though it wasn't like being killed by a Sandman would have been any better.

"Who are you?" Neptune asked, still cautious. Youma impersonating her friends was bad, bad news. It was definitely more than enough to put her on edge.

"No time for that. We gotta get and we gotta get NOW!" As though summoned by his words the doors of the Hilton swung open violently, the remaining Hoffmann members running full out. The stream of Sandmen pouring out after them left little doubt as to why.

Neptune watched the woman of the group fire blindly into the crowd. Her shots were as effective as an ant holding back a dam. The multitude continued forward unerringly, the wounded only slowing enough to heal the damage near instantaneously.

Her sprint was superhuman, her senshi form allowed her to cover ground faster than even the most fit athlete. The distance between her, the Hoffamnn members, and the unrelenting mob vanished. there were no flowery speeches, no posing. There was only the enemy and herself. Power, ancient beyond the history of man, ancient before the birth of the planets, flowed into her. Her will shaped it, forming the threads of power and manifesting them on the prime material plane.

"Deep Submerge!" Green energy blew past Donna, causing her to tumble. The street ripped apart under the magical ballista as it plowed through the mass Sandman and exploded, collapsing and sealing the only exit from the building in the forward facing side. The Remaining Sandmen scattered, moving to make themselves less of a target.

"That won't work," Neptune yelled, manifesting the Neptune Mirror. Its reflective surface drew the eye of each Sandman, the light in the area seemingly drawn to it. Her hand guided the mirror in a sweeping motion aimed at the remaining Sandmen.

"Submarine Reflection!"

And in an instant all was made silent, save the sound of Neptune's body hitting the ground.

"Could someone explain to me what the hell just happened?"
