"Oh, it's not that bad!" Haruka assured her, putting one arm about her shoulder comfortingly. "I've always kind of wanted to do a drive-by."
Michiru shot Haruka a level stare until Haruka pulled her arm back and giggled sheepishly.
Hikaru piled into the passenger seat, quickly buckling herself in while Minako revved the engine, a maniacal gleam in her eye. "And now for some _real_ fun!" she said happily, this time throwing the car into the correct gear without a hitch.
The car lurched into motion like a barely restrained, hungry behemoth, one that thirsted for the taste of pod-person. The engine purred with a low, eager sound. Minako ran one hand across the steering wheel lovingly, then sharply jerked it to one side and slammed on the gas.
For a second, the tires merely screeched, then gained purchase, throwing the vehicle into a violent spin, spattering several pod people against their plexiglass riot shields.
"Gang-way!" Minako whooped, centering the hood-ornament on the cluster of pod-people piling ontop of Jadeite.
The pod-people all froze, turning to look at the girl as her massive engine of death loped forward, leaving a long pair of green tire-tracks in the asphault beneath them. Michiru wondered if it was her imagination, or if their eyes actually widened, but the pod-people actually began to scatter, as though they could flee Minako's wrath.
As they approached, a faint cry could be heard through the sound of the engine: "Not in the face! My face! My beautiful face! Please--"
The cry cut off with a surprising crunch, as the car roared past, belowing its defiance. Michiru turned around, more from morbid curiosity than any actual belief that Jadeite could have survived.
His form twitched weakly, as the pod-people reformed their dog-pile, allowing the girls some distance. In what must have been an effort that would have made Hercules himself pat him on the back, Jadeite forced one hand free, which he raised above the pod-people.
