No, what surprised them was just how healthy Ranma seemed. He was walking normally, moving normally, with no sign of pain or impairment at all. They apparently weren't the only ones to notice this.
"I tell you I'm fine," Ranma said to the girl.
"You were unconscious for weeks, Hida-san," Reinino, eternally proper, said.
"Yeah, big waste of time," Ranma said. "But now, I'm fine."
"You entered battle without your armor," Reinino commented. "Against the Shadowlands, I doubt even my brother would be so foolish."
"Hey, I remember you doing the same," Ranma protested, referring to the event that had earned the Crane a degree of respect among the Crab.
Her family had been out in Crab lands near the Shinomen Forest, and an ogre had appeared, killed Reinino's guards and was about to kill her when her family and several Crabs arrived. She had been defiantly starring up at the ogre as it raised its club.
"I was not expecting to face an ogre that day," Reinino said. "You were expecting this, and much worse. Where is the Phoenix healer, or your father?"
"We're looking for him," Kisada said, feeling some amusement at the sound of the Crane girl chiding Ranma for not wearing his armor. "There are some questions to ask."
Before they could get any further, a Crab came down the hall and bowed before Kisada.
"Milord," he said. "Someone has arrived with news you should hear."
