"Do not worry, Miss Tendo, it will not be a matter of concern for long," said the soft voice of the girl in the kimono. "Once he has married me, I'm sure he'll stay out of your life."
"You're not a fighter either," said Akane, trying to read body language and getting mixed results. "Just wait till you start getting magical princes trying to kidnap you, martial artist challengers showing up in the middle of the night, martial arts battles waking you up in the morning..."
"I can handle myself, Miss Tendo," said the girl in the same calm voice.
"Wait a minute. 'Magical princes'?" Maya looked a little skeptical. "Magic?"
"That's right, you haven't seen his curse, have you?" Akane suddenly looked smug until she could wipe the expression. "That jerk draws weird challengers and bride-kidnappers and..."
