She listened to the story with Ranma, Shampoo and Mousse stopping to listen in.
"Another nutcase fiancee of yours, Saotome?"
"Shaddup, Mousse."
Shampoo frowned. "Something very strange this one."
"We'll need to get you some more typical clothes, child, but this is sufficiently intriguing that I want to investigate further," said Cologne with a nod towards her great grand-daughter. "Shampoo see what you can find that Miss Ayanami can wear."
Ranma looked towards the departing two and ignored Mousse. "So what ya think?"
"The most obvious theory is that somehow in the future, someone used the Nanban Mirror or something similar and sent her back into the past." Cologne put some of her odd herbs together in her pipe as she thought.
"She's from the future?" Though Ranma could realize that if he had been able to go to the past, why shouldn't someone in the future visit now?
"I'm not completely satisfied, it's just a working theory for now," said Cologne.
"Attacking angels? Tokyo-3? Second Impact? Oh, come on now," scoffed Mousse.
"More difficult to believe in than a Jusenkyo curse? Or the Nanban Mirror itself? She's not quite as open as Ranma here, but I don't think she was lying. She also didn't know how she ended up here either. Most curious." Cologne smirked at Ranma. "Son-in-law, your life may be weird but it's not gotten boring yet."
"Gee, thanks," replied Ranma drily.
Cologne nodded. This was all interesting and the strength of the girl's chi was incredible. She might have to invoke some law and arrange for her to defeat Mousse. That kind of blood would be useful in the tribe if the girl couldn't be sent back.
Lina frowned. "Well, we can't be sure of what connection she has to Amelia."
"None at all."
"Not you again," protested Lina without even looking towards the shadows that had just spoken.
"Amelia is beyond even my ability to locate her, which I didn't think possible," said Xellos. "Only by following her trail was I able to guess where she went."
"You're giving me a straight answer?" Lina asked in disbelief.
"The world must be coming to an end," quipped Zelgadis.
"Actually, I'm kind of worried about that possibility myself," admitted Xellos. "I don't think it's likely because some sort of balance was struck. Amelia went somewhere else and your escaping prisoner came from somewhere different from both. It's quite the puzzle."
"Wait a minute, that would mean that there are places outside the boundaries of the Lord Of Nightmares..." Lina began to sweat over the possibilities of that.
"What do you mean 'escaping prisoner'?" Gourry asked since the rest of the conversation had gone quite past him.
"Now THAT is a secret," said Xellos.
Lina bolted to the door only to find some empty ropes, a busted chair, and an open window.
"We kind of guessed that," admitted Sailor Moon. "You're using the same kind of magic I am. More or less."
"Great. Now if only Mars can get a fire reading, or Mercury can get a scan going, or Neptune can get her mirror working, we can find out where Haruka-chan went."
