Which could only mean one thing...he had gotten stuck with a newbie to the game as well as a beginners deck. With Bakuron's luck this was probably the first time these hands had ever held a duel monsters card.
'Why the hell do I always have to get the losers' he thought while shuffling his deck and trying to come up with some kind of strategy even without knowing his cards. An impossible feat, he knew, but maybe inspiration would strike, or some crap like that.
When he had finished shuffling he handed his deck to the woman across from him and vice versa, also taking the time to study his opponent.
The woman herself didn't look all that special. There were no identifying marks on her and she didn't walk around in a purple robe like Marik's slaves did all the time. In fact if it wasn't for the strange amount of shadow magic surrounding her Bakuron would have just passed her off as another stupid girl on the street.
As for her deck, it was larger than his own, and thinks to the sensitive feel of Bakuron's new hands he could tell that a good number of the cards had that extra amount of detail or long names that marked them out as rare and valuable cards if not powerful ones.
Well no matter, a thief such as himself survived on his wits not strength, and even newbie decks had some basic strategy around them, even if it was usually easy to counter.
Done with sizing up his opponent the thief handed back his opponent’s deck and received his own before taking a few steps back as was customary and inserting the things into the duel disk system. It wasn't really needed in the shadow realm, but the surface was a good surface to lay cards on.
After fingering through five cards Bakuron drew his first hand but didn't look at it quite yet. Because...
