The standard Deck Of Many Things had 22 cards. As this had more than 22 cards, one might expect it would do a few nonstandard things.
Nabiki backed away from the glow even as she fell down, her eyes searing with the sight of the scales moving. on the card.
Choice was made. Three cards to be drawn.
Justice the first draw.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral.
Balance Shifted
Alignment: Lawful Good.
Two draws remain.
"I don't remember making a choice," protested Nabiki as she shook her head at that mental voice. She wasn't immediately aware of her world philosophy altering, except perhaps that she'd had a slight religious epiphany and the awareness that going through the possessions of runaway elves might not be a particularly good idea.
Now that she was seeing things clearly, she couldn't see how this was particularly right but didn't see a way out of it. The deck had apparently decided that her desire to turn over a few of the cards to see what they were was a request to draw three cards.
If she didn't select cards, they'd draw themselves - and soon.
The book seemed to chuckle, as the entrapment spells on it had failed to influence the elves who had stolen it but worked just fine on the human thief who had come. Now the book's own magic lashed out in a wave, programmed to do so as the spells warding the book expired and the victim would be off guard from whatever the deck had done. The magic would negate their saving throws for the next few minutes, which should take care of the thief quite nicely in normal circumstances.
Nabiki reached out and pulled the next card, revealing her second choice was:
