"The name's Saotome." Ranma nodded to the sword wielder.
"Kuno," the dark haired youth replied back, still slightly weary of Ranma, though for reasons he couldn't place right away.
"I-I'm Hikaru," the red-haired girl muttered, still looking toward the direction the Wasps had taken her brother.
Ranma nodded to her as well. "I thought they evacuated the area? What are you doing here?" Kuno scoffed.
"Evacuated? Is that what they're telling people now? Those bastards locked us in here and left us for dead!" Kuno spat. "They weren't worried about saving anyone other than their own asses. They..."
"Shhh," Ranma interjected, cutting Kuno off. He held up a hand before the taller boy could continue. Cocking his head he listened intently. The other two listened as well. A low droning, distant but quickly approaching, could be heard.
"Shit, more of the damned things!" Kuno swore.
"Cover. Let's get to cover," Ranma said, turning to the nearest building.
"Don't!" Hikaru shouted. Ranma turned in surprise. "Are you crazy? Walls don't stop those things. The fighting will just bring the building down on top of you."
The droning grew louder.
"What now?" Ranma wasn't ready to die just yet.
"We fight." Kuno calmly waited with his sword drawn, eyeing the surroundings. The droning seemed to come from all places at once making the point of origin hard to figure out.
"Hikaru?" Ranma asked.
"I... I can fight. I will fight!" Both Ranma and Kuno stepped back as flames engulfed the girl, forming a breastplate, shoulder pads, and a sword so large either thought they might have a time of it trying to swing it around. Where fear a depression once rested in her eyes now a flame of vengeance burned brightly.
"What manner of sorcery is this?" Kuno breathed. Where a frightened child once stood a vengeful goddess had replaced her. As the fires abated the droning grew omnipresent. The three drew together into a tight circle instinctively, reassured that someone was guarding their backs.
The first explosion came from Kuno's end as three large, black-chitined Warriors burst through a store front. The next troupe appeared facing Hikaru, three red Warriors lighting softly on the ground directly in front of her. Three green shelled Warriors burst from the front of what was once a small firm, coming to rest just outside of the building. All three groups stopped moving, waiting, and still droning filled the air.
The three moved in a slow circle, each studying the various enemies. The blacks were overly large with a chitin thicken than the others. The greens on the other hand had armor so thin it might have been painted on to their curvacious bodies. The reds looked almost the same as the original attackers. Yet, there was something about them that put all three on their guard more so than the others.
