"Not yet Sailor Moon," answered her short haired companion, head whipping back and forth as she searched for any sign of unusual activity. "How about you, Venus?"
"Nothi... Hey, wait! I see Mako-chan!"
"Really?" asked the bubbly first Senshi. "Where?"
"Coming out of that ramen shop at the end of the street," the orange skirted senshi of love (and bondage) replied. "You think she saw anything?"
"It would be a good idea to ask," Mercury replied as her own eyes locked onto the civilian guise of Sailor Jupiter, Senshi of wood and electricity. Her respect for Minako's eyesight increased dramatically as she noted the speed with which her perky friend had recognised the distant form. "We've already covered most of the target area without any sign of a monster attack. If Mokoto was here at the time, she may have seen or heard something."
"Right," said the free-spirited senshi of Venus. "I'll get her and meet you two in the alley behind that tea house." Quickly gesturing at the indicated site, Venus altered her trajectory slightly and, with her next stride, leapt from the top of the three story warehouse they'd been sprinting along. A long parabolic arc carried her entirely across the street and onto the opposite sidewalk. Not bothering to stop, Venus continued her athletic dash past her taller friend, softly murmuring a quick greeting as she zipped down the street and rounded the desired corner toward where Usagi and Ami were already waiting.

Standing in the doorway to Hotuki's Ramen Palace, a young woman named Makoto Kino watched in surprise as the handsome young man that she had so recently connected with sped away like a high school track star despite the encumberance of an oversized backpack.
Shocked at his extraordinary athleticism and wondering idly if she would be seeing him again, it took her a moment to connect the whispered "follow me" to the orange and white blur that passed her at a speed which put the pigtailed youth's own movement to shame. A few more moments passed before the significance of the request penetrated her mind and it required yet another moment for her to shift mental gears and speed off towards the distant alleyway which her magically empowered friend had already turned into.
Not being in her own Senshi form, and having no nearby place to transform unseen, she was slightly out of breath when she caught sight of her three friends half a minute later. Taking a quick gulp of air before trying to speak, Makoto was verbally set upon by her exuberant best friend and leader before she could get a word in edgewise.
"Makochan,I'msogladyou'realright.Mercury'scomputerpickedupsomedarkenergyreadingsbutthentheydisappearedbeforewecouldfindwhatwascausingthemandthenIthoughtthatmaybeweshouldjustlookforsignsofanattack,whichwasreallyagoodideaIthink,butwecouldn'tfindanythingandthenVenussawyouandweallthoughtthatmaybeyousawsomethingandcouldhelp,sodidyou?"
While Makoto tried to wrap her mind around that rapid-fire mouthful (and privately wondered if Usagi's transformation allowed her to speak as quickly as she could run), Mercury was making some startling discoveries with her Mercury Computer.
"Guys, I've got a faint reading. Whatever we're tracking was definitely nearby. I'm picking up some residual energy, but the power levels dropped by over 99% several minutes before we arrived. At this lower level of output the energy is virtually indistinguishable from background mana levels."
"But you can track it, right Mercury?" asked an eager Venus as Makoto still tried to puzzle out the nature of the threat that had caused her friends to transform and Sailor Moon smiled happily at her shy friend's new discovery.
"Well... "
