Crossed Worlds: Ranma , Mercenary for Hire? [Episode 71491]

by A.Nonymous

Hanz hit the deck as an explosion ejected a battered and scorched cyborg from an alley. ' What th' hell?' Hanz, a mercenary who had made good money guarding the Rail Train looked up at the cyber and back to the alley. The cybers damage wasn't as bad as it looked. Well other than the burns and shallow dents in its armour. Still...

Out of the alleyway walked a lean but muscular asian kid in a red silk shirt and black pants. The short pigtail was a cute addition , probably drew more than a few ladies to the handsome boy.

" Hmpf! Crazy jerk shoulda just let me be." complained the youth.

Hanz couldn't believe it! A kid taking down a cyber! Even with some little firebomb that was quite the task, especially in a tight little corner like that. More impressive was that he appeared to have come through without a scratch! Hell, his cloathes weren't even dirty!

" Hey there! Nice work kid." said Hanz.

Ranma looked over to see who was talking to him. A shaven headed thin guy in plain cloathes that remined Ranma of some lanky chinese soldiers he'd seen graced his sight! A bit miffed over the 'kid' remark he replied in a neutral tone " Thanks. I'm Ranma Saotome of the Anything Goes School of Martial Arts."

" I'm Hanz, green berret tribe. Say I'm headed to a friends place for diner before he heads off on the Rail Train to make a fortune. Wanna join me?"

Not knowing anyone on this world and being offered free food was more than enough incentive for Ranma. Besides he might learn a bit more of this world from him.

" Sure!...Um...What's this Rail Train thing anyhow?!"

A facefault echoed through the night.

Lenghty explanations ate up the time between the alley and Hanzs' friends place. 'They paid people to guard the Rail Train that carried food for some aerial city which ran everything from bandits. Robbing for food was one thing. Hell his Pops did it all the time, but, hurting people & taking stuff so they can destroy an unpleasant dictatorshipat any cost was wrong! Plus they were payin' big bucks or chips as the locals called their currency. Piece o' Cake! Stompin' these theivin' little creeps would be a snap, `sides it's a martial artists duty to defend the weak. The innocent people tryin' to make a livin' between this "BARJACK' and 'TIPHARES' would get slaughtered!!' Thus Ranma affirmed his discision to sign on to guard the Rail Train.
