The wizard who had been so traumatized by the sight of his childhood friends destroyed had sought out powerful beings.

He had found cruelty and creatures who preyed upon human kind. Long before Solomon became sha'ir and bound genie to their prisons and forged the magic that bound the genie whenever they stepped into the mortal plane, the wizard had seen the cruelties that even the kindest djinn would perform on mortals.

It was his own notes on the binding of these magical spirits that formed the basis for later works that would eventually lead to Solomon's work. That wasn't known to the Ring however. From the Master Ring to the Servant, the magic flowed. Each Ring could transform the wearer to whatever was needed. The djinn that the wizard observed were of elemental natures who dwelled on the elemental planes. Efreet were beings of fire. Marid of water. Dao of Earth. Djinn of air. Rarer and not normally making the trip to the mortal plane, djinn of shadow and djinn of time.

The best defense against a djinn was a djinn of the opposite element.

Nabiki put on the Ring that hadn't even rested for a full second on Akane's finger and went to bed with it.

She changed in that wearing. Dao were cruel and strong and powerful with innate magic that allowed them control of the element of earth. Nabiki grew taller, her breasts fuller, her strength and durability swiftly surpassing Ryoga.

As the changes completed, she made a wiping gesture and reverted to her normal appearance. Less trouble that way. Now she was Nabiki, genie of earth. She was the slave of Ranma Saotome, she loved him with all her heart and mind and body and soul. But he really didn't know what was best for him. Never had.

She was also the master of her element. Going into the backyard, Nabiki surveyed the ground and nodded. "Elementals, I summon thee."

And because it was her will, the ground buckled and from it rose three servitors. Nabiki frowned at the rough-hewn forms, but realized she'd get better at this with practice. All three were made of rock and soil, definitely not her better work.

"You," Nabiki pointed a finger at one. "Merge your essence with the land. Seek any Rings that may have been buried and bring them here."

As the first re-merged with the land, Nabiki pointed to the second. "You. Compact your soil, you're dribbling. Now excavate for me a cavern complex 500 meters below this house, avoiding any pipes or wiring between here and there. Compact the walls to the point of metal hardness. The Master deserves a palace, one where we shall not be disturbed easily."

As the second complied, Nabiki turned to the third. "Straighten yourself up. I can't abide sloppy elementals. Now guard this yard. If any who do not wear a Ring enter, subdue them." If nothing else, Nabiki figured this would make a decent alarm system.

This done, Nabiki decided her next move was to:
