"You want to go back to school?"
Mirelle sounded suprised and hurt. Over the months they had worked together she had become very close to the quiet, and truly deadly, Kirika. Hearing her say that she wanted to leave and return to Japan really hurt her deep inside.
"It's not you . . . it's . . . me. I want to know if I can be normal. I need to know if . . . I can have a normal life, that I'm more than a . . . killer."
"I know that."
Kirika paused. "I don't. Not really."
"Come on. You paint. You like cats. You're my . . friend."
"But I'm also your . . . buisness partner. Even when I try to be normal, I always come back to killing. It's probably too late for a career change, but I need to know that I can be a normal person. That I'm more than a . . . living weapon."
Two weeks later Kirika found herself in a new uniform facing a class rather uncertainly. She had always been rather shy with strangers, always more comfortable relating to people over the barrel of a gun. She waited as the teacher introduced her and watched her new classmates.
