Soun Tendo had just explained to his daughters about their impending engagement to a boy they had never met, that indeed, he had never met.
They weren't exactly squealing in joy.
"An arranged marriage? That is *so*, like, Fuedal, Daddy."
"Is he cute?"
"Hmmph. Boys aren't so special! If they were, they'd be girls!"
Soun and his two eldest daughters stared at the youngest Tendo for a few seconds, badly nonplussed.
Soun coughed a little, then went on. "Erm...Right. Anyway, he is the son of my old training partner, Genma Saotome. If one of you were to marry him, our legacy would be secure!"
Before he could continue (and before the youngest Tendo could make anymore vaguely unsettling remarks), there was a knock at the door.
"Oh! It must be Genma!" With these words, Soun rushed off, determined to greet his old friend. His middle daughter was right behind him, determined to claim dibs on the boy. The eldest daughter followed behind at a more sedate pace, and behind her came the originator of disturbing remarks Soun reffered as his youngest, slowly trudging along.
The sight that greeted them was mildly disturbing, to say the least. A large, white, bear-like...thing was carrying a slight figure wearing silk Chinese clothing. Said figure was pounding on the...thing's back, yelling, "Stop scaring 'em, old man!"
The...thing payed the yelling and thumping no mind, simply setting the figure down on the ground. Soun slowly approached the figure, saying hesitantly, "You-wouldn't be?"
Looking down, the person nodded.
"AT LAST YOU'VE COME! I'M SO HAPPY!"

Later, after curses, recriminations, and accusations, Soun came to a decision. "Well, your curse isn't so bad at all, my boy!" he said, slapping Genma's child heartily on the back. "These are my daughters. Mimi, she's nineteen. Miyako, she's seventeen. And Sora is sixteen. Pick the one you want, she'll be your fiancee!"
Taichi Saotome could only stare, dumbstruck.
