"[I am a 'pokemon,' a name you humans use when you're chatting about the creatures of this world,]" the talking creature replied. "[Goodness! When that strange human female said she gave you the gift of language, she wasn't lying, was she?]"
The strange creature whinnied in amusement. The young man in front of it continued to frown, not seeing what was so humorous with the situation.
"[Though now that I think about it, it's downright strange that I could understand everything that human was saying before she teleported away from here like a spooked Abra.]"
"Abra? Teleport? What?"
"[You really are from a different world, aren't you, human?]" the creature mused. It moved its muzzle closer to the young man, flaring its nostrils as it took in his scent. "[Did you come down from the sky? The old mares in my herd sometimes talked about the past, before humans came down from the sky. They'd heard those stories from their dams, who had heard it from theirs, and so on.]"
"The Heavens?" Ranma snorted. "No, I ain't no kami." He then struck a pose as he took in a deep breath. "I'm Ranma Saotome, heir to the Saotome School of Indiscriminate Grappling, and the damned best martial artist of his generation. Nice to meetcha, Miss Pokemon."
Despite being recently plucked out of his world and now left stranded in an alien one, Ranma wasn't someone who'd let the fact that his fiancee wished him away from her keep him down. No, sir! If she didn't want him around, fine then! He didn't like her that much anyways! He was better off without her! He-
The amused whinnies of the talking creature interrupted the mental ranting. Ranma blinked as found himself seeing eye to eye with the 'pokemon' in front of him. It had moved closer to him, raising its head while tilting muzzle sideways, so it could look at him more closely.
"[I like you, sugar. You're funny. I think I'd like travelling with you for a while. You seem like you'd make a decent Trainer. What do you say, sugar? How about it?]"
