[Episode 76667] [Episode 76667]"It's not fair," someone said behind her.
"Hey," she said, blinking and turning around. "That's what I was going to... eh?"
Standing behind her was another girl, a few years older than her, with short brown hair and an obvious pair of pointed animal ears along with a big, fluffy tail.
"You're not a cat girl," Rei Saotome said, slightly confused.
"You're not a fox girl," the other said in a similar wondering tone.
A yowling cry of passion slipped out from somewhere nearby.
"Well, cat-girls are getting pretty common now," Rei said, flushing a little in shame (at her inaction) and embarassment.
Then came a yipping cry from somewhere else, echoing the sentiment of the cat girl.
"So are fox-girls," the other girl said.
"Yeah," Rei admitted.
Between the fox-girls and the elves and the drow and the psuedo-vampires that had shown up numbers were getting fairly even.
"So, umm, my name's Megumi," she said.
"My name is Rei Saotome," the cat said. "Umm, how did you get to be a fox-girl?"
"Grandmother Megumi's brother married a goddess," Megumi explained. "I'm their only living mortal relative right now, so they put a request to Inari to gift me since the world is open again."
"Gift, you mean you ain't," Rei indicated one of the points of pleasure and blushed.
"Uh, no," she said. "When I find someone not already....busy, they're people I don't want to deal with."
"Yeah," Rei Saotome said. "Me too. I was scratched by the statue."
"Oh," Megumi said.
They flushed brightly and looked away for a moment.
"I... I like your tail," Megumi said finally. "Very...expressive."
Rei laughed nervously as the tail wrapped around her arm and she stroked it.
"Really?" she asked. "Yours is nice, too. But...umm, your ears are cuter."
"You think so?" Megumi asked seriously.
Rei nodded seriously. There was a long moment of silence and then two chairs scooted together.
"So, uh, where are the waiters and waitresses?" Rei asked.
A cry of passion answered that question, it didn't sound like a cat or fox. Maybe a one of the other demi-humans? Or maybe some still humans working out some tension while the rest of the city seemed to be. Both the girls sitting alone in the front room blushed brightly.
"We'll...have to entertain ourselves..." Megumi said, slipping an experimental hand on Rei Saotome's inner thigh. "I guess."
Rei Saotome leaned forward, sending Megumi back a little. She swallowed nervously and scratched the back of her head.
"You know," she said. "If we...uh...get together, it might be easier to find a guy. You know?"
"Y...yeah, I guess..." Megumi said as she leaned forward slightly into Rei and their lips met.
And soon the restaurant reverberated with the cries of a fox-girl and a cat-girl.
