She was not happy about this development.
After realizing he'd just kissed Akane, Hikaru Gosunkugi was passed out on the floor. Just her touching him would have been cause for celebration and so getting married + kissing + thoughts of a honeymoon had caused him to slip damn near into a coma.
Akane on the other hand, was just plain unhappy.
Ranma was unsure of his current situation on several points.
He did not speak the local languages, which seemed to be several different ones as near as he could tell. The only one he'd heard before was that of the two dark elves and he didn't know much more than names out of that one.
That didn't make him completely incommunicado as he had several young girls with him who spoke Japanese.
Moving from the temple to a library, to a secret passage in the Reference section, to a dark stairway, to a second secret passage and another dark stairway, to a set of catacombs that led him deeper.
The only light seemed to be these clubs, one end of which glowed with a pale white radiance that reminded him of moonlight for some reason.
The three girls, especially the one with glasses, seemed really curious about these 'light sticks' and interested in studying them.
"Vethbak narulhaut kevonin!" came a shout.
Sching! Their guide drew a sword and faced the shout.
Sanri drew a dagger from somewhere. Unri produced a shortsword she'd been wearing since the library. The three brides drew what looked like pens.
Ranma dropped into a offensive stance and looked around. Other than the pillars, this was a vast open area and too dark to see very far.
Then the shapes of their opponents were visible, first as the faint glow of their weapons, then more clearly as they came within the circle of light the 'light-sticks' produced.
Two were clearly human. Seven were clearly not. One looked like he'd been dead awhile and was apparently in charge.
Then the dead guy started throwing some kind of sickly green magic beam and the big beetle-thing smashed through one of the pillars and the fight was joined.
The mynah bird looked at the two as they leapt at it and seemed... bored.
WHAM! WHAM!
Genma slowly unpeeled from the wall and landed on the floor.
Soun did likewise from the ceiling.
"We must have collided in midair," reasoned Soun.
"This time for real," suggested Genma.
WHAM! CRASH! WHAM! CRASH!
Having this time been thrown through the ceiling, Genma contemplated the last few moments. Stupid looking bird standing there. Leap, rotating to lash out with a kick that would leave a chicken dinner ready for plucking and the oven. Sudden blur. Going through the ceiling and arcing down to land on the roof. "This means something."
Crash! Boom! "AIIEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Soun exploding outward through the roof and falling down around the area of that Kuno boy's mansion further indicated that something was up.
Wait a minute what was that sound? It sounded like something slowly trudging along, and then making a hop-skip, followed by more trudging.
