10 Rings (Sat,Mo,Me,Ma): Eet is Yvette's terrible tragic story, oui? [Episode 7709]

The priest nodded at the tourists. "Shore, Ah ken tail yu, bout that there haunted bath-house!"

"Haunted bath-house?"

"Yup, yung-uns, if any gal sets foot on it, the spirits will seek the one with da weakest will and have der vengeance most foul on 'em!"

Ataru, having been pummelled within 2cm of his life, and have experienced 250+ years of "desire to lay some serious smackdown" released upon his person, wasn't available for comment otherwise he would have had a few things to say at this point.

"What about the ring?" Cologne asked, still feeling the need for some additional violence but at least momentarily satisfied.

The priest explained that there was reputed to be a ring which contained a terrible curse, and which had once been used by martial artists. Only the Master of the afflicted student could remove the ring. If the wearer was not deemed worthy or committed acts not in keeping with proper decorum or behavior, then they became Yvette. A French girl who had come to this country and died during one of Tokugawa's "kill all foreigners" purges.

It was Yvette's terrible fate to be a mild mannered and extremely talented domestic accompanying a merchant who had sought refuge at this very temple. Yvette, despite being a very nice girl whose main calling in life was dusting and doing embroidery, died and her spirit was trapped within a ring. Yvette had personally been beheaded while pleading for her life by Tokugawa himself, who was not nearly as nice as his PR people made him out to be.

Now the poor spirit haunted the bathhouse - which was off limits to women since Yvette might have been a nice girl but she was also a bit of a ditz and kept accidently possessing people. Not to worry though, unless the ring that contained her spirit was put on by someone, she couldn't leave the bathhouse.

Everyone looked at where Genma was currently a busty girl in her mid-20s, wearing a maid costume, and apparently knitting a sweater.

Cologne shrugged. It wasn't like China hadn't had a few incidents like that. Though if the foreign merchants and ambassadors had been more flexible and not quite as stubborn - who knew what could have occurred?

"So, whoever trained Pops is the only one who can remove the ring?" Ranma asked the group after the priest dozed off, still sitting where he had been telling them of the cursed ring.

Nods all around. Though Moon thought she might be able to use healing magic to remove the cursed ring.

"Eet eez okay, son," said Genma. "All zat I have to do eez to act zee part of zee righteous martial artiste and I vill not change to zis girl, oui?"

"That is just so major not right," offered Usagi.

Shampoo nodded. What if it had happened to her? Horrible horrible.

"So what do we do now?" Ranma held up the third ring, now grafted to a finger like Moon and Saturn. "I've got you four."

Mercury, who'd reverted to young like Moon and Saturn, shuddered. "First I need to scrub. That boy suffered from wandering hands. I need to really scrub."

Sympathetic nods met this observation.

Mars sighed and sat back. Her ring had been used to heat water for so long that just getting out of the ring was blissful.

"Okay, after that?" Ranma asked. Genma-maid was clearly more interested in finishing her sweater.
